We discovered The Rock by accident when we were last in Zanzibar about 5 years ago. Such an amazing looking place we just had to go and discover what it was all about. And of course it isn’t just the most unique place with extraordinary views and outlook, but a fabulous restaurant. So when we came back to Zanzibar it... More

We called for reservations & the restaurant arranged the pick up from stone town. After the long drive, we got to the restaurant & were rushed to place an order as the kitchen was closing. The rock platter was over done & some even burnt however the lobster pasta was good. Try to arrive by 6:30 to appreciate the beauty... More

One of most helpful things you wanna have on Zanzibar is the tide timetable, which you can print online. It's very useful for planning when to go for an excursion because during low tide you cannot swim in the ocean. That's when we visited The Rock. It's some 15 min drive north from Paje on the east coast. Arriving at... More

Enjoyed our meal, were able to accommodate for my dietary requirements. Owned by Italians and serviced by the locals. Good service, delicious food and very reasonably priced. Fantastic outlook, extensive menu. Fun returning back to our hotel in the dark whereby we had to wade through 8" of water before getting to the mainland, walking through the dark village and... Decided to go for dinner on our last night on the island. Couldn't have chosen a better restaurant. Absolutely stunning location, delicious food and amazing cocktails. MAke sure you go in the late afternoon so you can watch the sunset from the verandah.

At The Rock i had a drink which should be made from juice but it was prepared from concentrate, sugar and water. Just like a "juice" from a box. I paid for this 7 dollars. Next day I found fantastic, small restaurant in Stone Town and I had there great, real, fresh and tasty mango and passion fruit JUICE much... More

The Rock has always been on our bucket list, so when we were in Zanzibar, we took the opportunity to have lunch there. The tide was out, so we walked right up to The Rock. The views are breathtaking! The food was okay, but way overpriced for the region. The staff was average. The Rock is one of those places... More

We just wanted to check the place and didn't try the food. Only got a dessert and a cocktail. The prices are on the higher end for Zanzibar but it's a curious place. A lot of people were coming just to see it and take pictures. Typical price for a main course in a restaurant in Zanzibar is 15k-20k shillings... More
