Fantastic country pub, decided to try it on way home as initial plan had changed.
I’m glad I did, choice of 2 hand pulls, opted for the Bass and it was really good, well kept and clear.
Had been told that their cold filled cobs...were great, went for cheese and ham. These are really made to order and come with crisps. Other members of the party had beef salad, cheese and onion and chicken salad. All commented on how nice they were. Generous and Plentiful filing in the cob served on soft brown cob.
Taking a friend for a drink or colleagueIt is an excellent pub 2nd to none you’re always very welcome everybody is made most welcome even new people coming into the pub for the first time are brought into the conversation if they wish or they...can go and have a quiet drink in another room or in the same room no offence is ever takenAll the bar staff are excellent Tony Matthews is the most hospitable person I’ve met don’t forget the checkers Is 2nd to noneMore

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. So good to hear you feel welcome and comfortable, can't ask for more. Take care, Tony & Claire
If you are nervous about going out after Lockdown, the arrangements at the Chequers will assure you that you can go back to pubs! A big garden at the rear of the pub, and some outdoor tables closer to the service point provide lots of...space to distance. The landlord continues to be friendly and welcoming and as ever the beer and wine selection are excellent...A lovely warm evening and a glorious sunset were a bonus!!More

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to leave such lovely and reassuring feedback. Very pleased you felt comfortable and had a lovely evening at the Chequers. Hope you will visit us again soon. Take care, Tony & Claire.
This is friendly old fashioned pub serving great drinks with really friendly staff -especially the landlord and his wife. There are no meals served but sandwiches and pies are provided from time to time. In winter there is usually a nice coal fire which makes...it very cosy and warm.
I've been visiting this pub for years so thought I should let others know about it through Tripadvisor!More

Thank you very much for leaving us a great review, much appreciated. Look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
We have used this pub for years when Dennis ran it and it always been the best.
Since the new landlord has come in he has kept up the tradition but has bought in some new blood.
This is a fabulous pub very friendly landlord...and landlady with very friendly regulars.
My husband loves the Bass here, and the prices are very good.
A very welcoming pub we live 9 miles away but we will always come here, because it is fab.More
Popped in before heading off for a meal and what a proper drinking pub this is. Service was excellent - even from the other customers; one of whom bought my pint and change over!
Really quaint pub with lovely home-made food being offered around and...a decent pint of Bass.
Toilets are hilarious. Proper pub.More
My wife has already completed a review but I also felt the need to. I wish this guy ran our local pub. Funny, friendly, accommodating and nothing was any trouble. We will be back even though we live 130 miles away. Thanks for s great...nightMore
