Boy what a treat! You certainly cant go wrong trying the delightful Village Inn Restaurant. Small, cosy and busy, its best to phone ahead. The Portuguese kitchen staff and lovely Canadian hostess are very friendly, accomodating to every need. With both Portuguese starters, fish dishes, British and mild curries, you will always find something to your taste. I found myself... More

Where do I start. Food was amazing proper home cooked fresh tasty food. Kathie the owner was exceptional she really knows how to treat her customers. The resturant is very quirky and in what felt like at this time of year, in the middle of nowhere. We walked from our hotel and thought hmm wonder how it will be and... More

We came across this delightful restaurant quite by chance. We were staying up the road at the lovely bed and breakfast, "Rio do Arade." On walking along we noticed the bright yellow painted building. We peeked in the windows and saw what looked like an enchanted cottage. Stepping inside it seemed pretty busy, but we managed to get the last... More

This place is a quirky little english restaurant in portugal. Its decor remind me of a small inn in England, and the food matches. The beef and kidney pie was very good. Very nice owner as well.

We went there on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews expecting more than we got. Quirky kitsch decor but plastic patio chairs! A relatively extensive menu but surprisingly no local fish dishes. Food was good but not great and didn't live up to some of the rave reviews. Owner serving tables was a little overbearing for my taste.

Four of us had a great night in The Village Inn. Food and wine were superb and service was excellent. The surroundings were comfortable and cosy and reminiscent of a village establishment. We rounded off the great meal with large digestifs. Booking essential in high and shoulder seasons.

What a fantastic spot! The food here was so lovely, healthy and filling. I struggled with the Portuguese Cuisine as a Vegetarian however this little gem of a restaurant catered completely to my needs. I had a delicious appetizer, main entree and dessert! And, of course lots of wine! The location is perfectly situated and the food is just splendid.... More

My daughter and I were in Portugal for 2 weeks and traveled the country from top to bottom.....the meal that we enjoyed at the Village Inn was out of this world and definitely the best one we had the entire trip. Stuffed with bric a beac and reminiscent of grandmas tea room. I would class this as home cooking. Lovely touch of a taster spoon of lemon sorbet before main meal. Husband and I divided on this one as I wouldn't particularly go back. Cost 39 euro for 1 Starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert and two drinks.

Charming little place this one, very small but packed with interesting curios, service can be a little slow but worth the wait. Food is A1 and very reasonably priced. The Canadian lady who owns it is very charming and helpful. You may well need to book as its very popular. you can also eat on the outside terrace.

Thank you for your great review. I am sorry that you had to wait some. I try to space customers out, but sometimes they arrive earlier and some arrive later than planned. This makes it a little more difficult, but we do try our best. I am very glad you enjoyed your evening here. Thank you for a very good... More

Description
Very intimate dining experience. Charming old building, wonderful al fresco dining in the summer months. Attention to detail. Every table is beautifully set with fresh flowers from Kathie's garden. Each table different. Value for money. Specialities include, lamb chops with honey, mint, garlic and lemon, Persian spice lamb, steak and kidney pie with roast and veg, Circassian chicken. Desserts are a real treat here at The Village Inn. Apple crumble, brandy snap baskets, crepes in a Grand Marnier and orange sauce to mention a few of the many!
Starters also are worth mentioning. Hot honeyed prawns are a real favourite, phyllo pastry filled with creamed hot spinach, melted goats cheese and served with a cranberry and red currant sauce, stuffed mushrooms, baby squid sauteed with garlic, braised lamb's liver with mushrooms, onions and Madeira wine.

All just waiting for you. Well worth the visit.
