Was pointed this direction for the best cake and was not disappointed. My sister and I each had a different type and couldn't decide who's was better. This has become a must stop for me in Monschau.

This is a comfortable café a cut above most coffee shops with an air of old fashioned genteel elegance about it. In keeping with the ambience the coffee is also elegantly served in little china pots (unless cappuccino), which provides sufficient for a top up. The display case on entering shows the variety of cakes and gateau available, and they... More

We stopped in for coffee and cake. Good coffee and a great selection of cakes and pastries. Service was pleasant. Our waitress spoke little English but we managed to get by. Prices were reasonable.

We've seen a couple of poor reviews for Café Am Rosen Hausa, among some great ones. I'm definitely in the café's fan club! It's a delightful place. They meet all the standards of correct, but friendly service that I've come to expect in Germany. Coffee was served in nice china (coffee in pots, meaning we each had a couple of... More

I often take family and visitors to quaint Monschau for sights and coffee and cakes. Spent 32 EUROS here on coffee and cakes for 6 people, which is not very expensive. However the coffee was REALLY bad. Tasted burnt and as if the the machine had not been cleaned. When interrogated "how everything was" by a blond unfriendly waitress with... More

Both Trip Advisor and the folks up at the Senfmuhle pointed us here. It made for a fine and respectable repast. If I had an option between 3 and 4, I would have put it there, I think. It is an unremarkable cafe, but in Monschau, it seems a cut above given oast experience, and compared with the stories my... More

We have the most fantastic five o'clock tea with ice and/or cake. It was like a nice meal that lasted well into the evening. Even the memory tasts good.

We arrived early on a cold Ascention day morning (something we had overlooked) so Monschau was basically closed. Hot coffee was a life saver and prepared us for a day of sightseeing and hiking. We noticed that this was a very popular breakfast location for the locals. Pricey but good quality.

Delicious, with a nice salad and wedges of fried potato-cake. Good beer and a great little patio area. I am not a sweets person sowas pleasantly surprised by the quality of the lunch.

Monschau is beautiful little town where time stood still. Sitting on the terrace of the cafe you have a great view on the big, red house (Das rote Haus). The cakes look and taste great. My coffee however could use more strength, but that's how I like it. The waitress did her job, but smiling was not included.
