How is La Guinguette rated?

Moored our boat opposite(almost). Popped in for a beer,the local ADA is excellent, and stayed for two. Also shared a platter of olives, cheese and cold meats which was tasty and generous at 11 euros. The service was friendly and efficient. A perfect post covid...lock down bar visit. Restaurant food looked good.More

Very Pleasant Dinner - Attentive Service & Some reservations

Recommended by locals as the best place to eat in town we were encouraged and stayed an extra day to have dinner here. A Thursday night and we were the only table dining....but regardless the service was fast, helpful and attentive as needed. Meals ordered...and care taken to ask how we wanted both steak and kidneys ( a house speciality) prepared we were expecting great things. Alas despite no other tables to a deal with the food was disappointing....the beef fillet we were assured as exceptional came over cooked.....asked for rare it was at best medium well - not acceptable EVER. Same with the kidneys...so very disappointing. We advised the staff admittedly after the meal as we didn't want to wait longer for meals to be re-done. Sympathtic noises and apologies bit that was it. To be fair though they did bring out all the stops showering us with several varieties of after dinner digestifs and as such we felt they had made an effort to keep us happy. To be fair also we'd return and give it another chance as the waiter was so helpful and ok so our main courses were inexcusably over cooked everyone has a bad night...pity it was ours!More

Very good

Beautiful terrace next to the canal. Perfect for the sunny days. Food was tasty and the service was correct.

Unfriendly towards the English

After our first excellent visit to the restaurant, we were extremely disappointed by the service received we didn’t stop for food. The waiter/owner found the need to confer with his partner after every interaction with us and every Belgium who ordered drinks were given extras....GET OVER YOURSELVES!More

Warm, friendly, dog loving restaurant next to the canal

We stopped here after a walk with our 3 dogs Sat a table outside in the sunshine Wonderful welcome especially as the dogs were given a bowl of fresh water without having to be asked � We had some local beer & wine The food...was great I loved my warm goats cheese salad We will definitely be backMore

Relax, good food, friendly people

In a lovely old fashioned spot at the waterside, but not idyllic, more like tourism used to be 100 yrs ago (in a positive way). Very friendly boss, great specials, very representative for the local cuisine. Good wine list, great beers. Really enjoyed the meal,...no frills, no haute cuisine but very well made terroir food. Lovely place.More

Worst customer service ever! Service a la clientele deplorable!

We showed up around 1:30 pm for a late lunch.The restaurant was open and serving food indoor and on the patio.They had 1 open table outside and 2 inside.2 of those were tagged "reserved".We walked in to inquire about any waiting time to get a...table.We were promptly turned away and asked to leave the premise just because we did not make a reservation before heading out.The waiter who also seemed to be the owner dismissed us with such rudeness that even the customer sitting in the premise looked stunned.In all fairness, we are making this review without having tried the food and service but the way we were greeted was so rude,that we felt necessary to let other people know about our little experience.Stay away from this place,and instead, walk another 100 yards and try to very welcoming St. Emilion,and their great food.More
