We are 4 adults who decided to give Five Stags a go for lunch and drinks on Sunday 4th April (first time visit). From the moment we arrived Morgan (female waitress) was disinterested and rude to us. She was like that the whole time and...we were there for a couple of hours. She never cleared our plates until we asked her and even then she only cleared half of them. There were quite a few flies so the plates really needed to be cleared immediately. It was such a shame because it seemed like it would be a good place to go regularly. If Morgan doesn't like her job she should look for another job. The staff have a huge impact on whether you go back again and it is likely that we won't be back.More

meal dissappointing - could have cooked better at home, service appalling - staff very uninviting. Not a good impression - from visiting south islanders

It's a decent place to chill with a wine and a mate, or have cocktails and have a boogie with a mate. Live music usually on a Friday and Saturday. Great wine prices compared to the central town centre establishments, $8 compared to $15!! Good...service. The food has been fine the times I've had any. But the atmosphere is great, between a pub and a bar, just right! Decent decor, comfortable seating, clean facilities. Why not?! Might be worth a visit...!!More

Went last year before Christmas and it was awesome, went back to be really disappointed, 3 different meals and not one of them got finished, calamari was dry and chewy, steak sandwich was over cooked to the point of almost teeth breaking and the pasta...was all sauce with no goodies in it. Neighbors who went 2 days later said the same thing. Wont be backMore

We visited here with a couple of younger friends, just expecting typical quality pub food, but the meal was great. The 'restaurant' is really part of the pub, just separated by the bar, but it felt quiet enough. We had roast pork, brisket, and lamb...shanks, and couldn't believe how tender all the meats were - it tasted much more like what you would expect at a high-end restaurant. Absolutely recommend 100%, we'd have no hesitation going back for more.More

We decided to sit in the restaurant as opposed to the bar area as there was live music on - the restaurant was segregated by the bar so you could still hear the music, which was fine. However you can only order from the restaurant...menu if you choose to do this. I ordered the roast pork which was ok.... a bit dry. Portions were good. I was surprised to get frozen veg, considering carrots are plentiful and cheap. Also the menu advertised cauliflower cheese, which I love, but it was broccoli cheese and a tiny portion. At $18 I thought it was quite good value though. My husband ordered the large ribs. I tasted them and the meat fell off the bone, very tender. However they were swimming in sauce - far too much. Also the ribs were overpriced. We were staying in the Top 10 and it's a convenient restaurant to walk from there. Good atmosphere though. Our server was friendly.More

A very special lunch was shared with friends on Sunday at Five Stags. We ordered pork ribs and got fatty burnt, chewy, beef ribs lacking in every way. The sauce was watery and it drowned the Cole slaw. Very disappointed
