We've eaten in some very good restaurants all over the world. My husband as a meat and fish eater can take his pick of venues for top class food. His meal here was fantastic, but mine was just as well presented, creative and most importantly tasty as his. I'm used to feeling like an afterthought for chefs - they don't... More

We had booked Ballandean Estate restaurant for lunch with 4 adults and 5 children for day one of our Granite Belt adventure. We phoned on the 3 hour trip from Brisbane to schedule our booking to be later - this was no drama and we arrived at around 1.30pm on the Thursday before Easter 2017. We were seated in the... More

We visited during Easter had the most amazing lunch, the menu had wonderful selections both with entree and mains. The service was excellent during this busy time. The wines were superb as it is part of a wine yard so it was great experience, however I do wish I had tried the pate - next time!

An evening at the Barrel room restaurant is a special event. We were served by the lovely Anna who was polite, unobtrusive and helpful- exactly what you want in waitstaff. My partner chose the pork, I chose the fish. Our desserts were the plum parfait and the baked apple. We coupled this with a shiraz from the Ballandean winery. Perfect... More

We ate at the Barrel room after breaking our journey from he Sunshine Coast to Dubbo. The meal was lovely especially the Cauliflower entree. Our waitress was so knowledgeable and complimented with a local Chardonnay we had a beautiful meal. Don't let the outside deceive as inside dining along the huge wine barrels it really is a special place.

Great food sourced locally, service absolutely spot on...friendly, efficient, knowledgeable but unobtrusive. Stayed at cabins nearby to break up a trip and so glad we did.

Once again blown away by the superb use of local ingredients for a large function at this venue. The Barrelroom and Larder sources ingredients in a radius of 3hrs and have worked hard to secure reliable suppliers that meet their organic and ethical standards. Worth a visit, every time. Whilst you are stopping in, enjoy wine tasting at the Ballandean... More

We had the pleasure of having lunch at the Barrelroom on Friday 3/3/17. The food and service were outstanding!! There was nothing to fault. I would definitely recommend anyone visiting the Stanthorpe area to go to the Barrel Room. We definitely will be returning. Thank you again for an amazing dining experience!!

This is a nice place for lunch. Menu options are good, location near the Stanthorpe vineyards, good for groups of people to lunch out. We were a group of 8 staying in the area and had lunch here.

Thank Greg B

We believe in keeping our food mileage low, utilising the abundant produce in the area and working with both local farmers and the seasons to showcase what the Granite Belt has to offer. We support free range and sustainable farming practices, as well as organic where possible, and have given ourselves a strict three hour radius in which to source our produce - if we cannot get something within this radius, we simply do not use it. We allowed three hours so we were able to reach Ballina for seafood, however most things are coming from much closer to home. Currently our pork, tomatoes and garlic come from within minutes of the restaurant. Because we use such local produce, for the most part we are unable to order in cuts of meat, so meat comes to us as whole beasts, if not delivered by the farmer who raised and slaughtered it, then by the butcher who did. For this reason, you will notice our mains will often feature a cut of meat as well as a braise so we can utilise and pay homage to the whole animal. Everything possible is produced in house including the bread, cultured cream and butter and we like to feature wild foraged ingredients on our menu. We welcome you warmly to The Barrelroom and hope you can appreciate the effort we put into designing a menu that is not only delicious, but mindful, clever and above all, respectful of the produce we utilise.
