Travelling on the Jacobite we had the best part of two hours to kill in Mallaig so we headed off The Steam Inn and were lucky to find two or three tables available (Ten minutes later and it was full). The food was very good and so was the service. It wasn't cheap but it was certainly value for money... More

Visited for a bite to eat after lunchtime. Having just arrived in Mallaig. Only wanted something to keep us going till dinner time, this was not a problem at all. 2 adults & child, so we decided to order a pizza & curly fries & that was more than enough for 3 of us. The pizza was delicious, lots of... More

Having descended from the Harry Potter steam rail ride from Fort William, we stopped by this humble pub/restaurant in Mallaig for a quick dinner and we were lucky to be seated in the last minute. We were even luckier to sample their incomparable mussels! To die for!! Tender and sweet, no doubt straight off the boat, served in a delicious,... More

Cosy stove in a recently refurbished bar. Friendly staff. We had drinks with friends and sat down for dinner later. I had seafood pizza and others had the beef roast. Excellent food and value for money. Would definitely eat here again.

No idea where to eat while waiting to catch train back to Fort William but wandered up the road and decided to give this inn a try and weren't disappointed. Great choice of dishes on the menu and 'Specials' on board. We were only having drinks and a snack and were pleased with our sandwiches and wraps, well filled and... More

Only called in for drinks but the one real ale available was the most expensive in town. Large outside patio area alongside the kitchen. Worryingly the.staff made several visits to collect goods from the freezer shed which did not encourage eating

Went in the Steam Inn following a recce of other restaurants in Mallaig and I believe I made the right choice. I was greated by a smiling young lady and shown to a table and presented with a menu. She explained that one item was not available from the menu and what the soup of the day was. She also... More

We called in for a quick lunch as we had a train to catch. We found the barman very friendly and the food that was served was exceptional. Excellent stop for a quick lunch.
