Friendly staff and excellent food plus a great view out of the window. I have been visiting for years and I would never choose to eat anywhere else in Leyburn.

We were brought here for the auction house but stayed for the excellent shops around the square. Then for local take on scones - rascals. We were welcomed to this eclectic mix of cafe, public loos and tourist office, and then sat in window overlooking valley over to distant fells: perfect. I won't wait another 50 years to return. This must be one of the friendliest cafes in Leyburn. Apart from a warm welcome and delicious home made cakes - fat rascals to die for it offers tourist information with a wide selection of maps books and leaflets and an eclectic gallery showcasing local artists. Excellent meeting place for friends and family.

Got window table with view of the hills. Hostess very bright and bubbly - made us feel at home. Unremarkable menu but the toasted tea cakes were great. In a nice spot near the market place - parking not bad. All in all, really pleasant place.

Lovely tea room, small menu but sufficient. Lovely home-made cakes...I was in marzipan heaven after a generous slice of simnel cake. Staff wonderful, very friendly, the view is amazing from the tea room.

I had never heard of a Yorkshire Fat Rascal until we stayed at a b and b in Leyburn which has a tea room attached on the Market square. They call it a scone with attitude but more like a rock cake than a scone. I suppose that's the attitude. Lovely anyway and lovely place for a cup of tea.... More
