We really enjoyed out afternoon tea here. Staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious! We couldn't eat all ours, it was deceptively filling. The tearoom itself is warming and cosy. The only slight niggle I have is that we asked to take our 4 scones home but when we got home we found the waiter had only put... More

Well worth a visit to rest your tired legs. The cream tea is excellent, if hungry go for 2 scones over the 1.

We were pleasantly welcomed with a warm open fire and given a table by the window. The menu is pleasantly short but with an interesting selection. It came in good time, nice and warm with good portions.

A beautiful afternoon tea to mark a special occasion but rather expensive for an everyday experience. Delightful surroundings and excellent customer service made this a fantastic experience.

Do visit The Black Swan if you are in Helmsley. Small but good atmosphere. Very interesting prawn cocktail idea with Parmesan wafer , cubed watermelon dice, delicious dressing, if only the chef would have given me the recipe!

A little gem in a historic building providing not only wonderful afternoon teas, but excellent lunches. The teas is served in china teapots and made from a good list of loose leaf fine blends drunk from fine porcelain tea cups. The cakes & pastries are excellent, perfectly made and presented. The warm atmosphere & friendly service is overseen by Alison... More

Expensive? Yes. Quality? Yes. Attentive staff? Yes. Return visit? Definitely. The afternoon tea sounds expensive, and doesn't look much on the menu. But when the waiter congratulates you on finishing it all, you realise what a challenge it is to eat it all. Dainty finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, gorgeous cakes. Well worth it. The finest afternoon tea I've ever... More

Lovely decor. Nice to sit outside on a sunny day and watch the world go by. Enjoyed a very good souffle for lunch.

The Black Swan Tearoom, located in the picturesque market town of Helmsley in the North York Moors, is both charming and traditional, and offers a fabulous quintessentially English Afternoon Tea experience which even the connoisseurs of Afternoon Tea wouldn't be able to fault. In addition to the traditional Afternoon Tea which changes seasonally making best use of the fresh, local produce available, a wide selection of brasserie style dishes are also served making the Tearoom the ideal place to meet up for lunch or simply just a cup of tea and a chat.
