Good homemade pies

Called for lunch and chose to sit in the tearoom rather than hotel bar or lounges. We both had the pie of the day, a well made hand raised pie in shortcrust pastry with a small puff pastry top. On our visit it was Chicken, Leek and bacon. Too full for desert. Around us many people were enjoying... read more

Four of us just had a real treat with a delicious and plentiful afternoon tea (two for the price of one offer , Monday to Thursday until late March. Booking essential) , We were given the choice of a whole variety of teas, coffee or hot chocolate (complete with cream and marshmallows. Yummy !!) The food and drink were tailored... More

Visited for afternoon tea for my husbands birthday today, also had our 4 year old with us. The afternoon tea was delicious, in fact one of the best I've ever had. The sandwiches were very fresh and the fillings tasty, beautiful light scones and an array of indulgent treats. The drinks were fabulous too, great selection of teas and coffee... More

We went for our Anniversary and had the 6 of one and half a dozen of the other menu. The food was amazing and the service was excellent throughout the stay. The room was comfortable but because it is an old building it was a fair distance from the reception. If you have trouble with stairs you should ask for... More

We ate here between Christmas and New Year. From walking into the bar to eating in the restaurant the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff was great. The standard of food was exceptional and well presented. Timing between courses was excellent, spot on.

I dined at the Black Swan twice over Christmas, joining friends who were staying in the hotel. I was staying nearby. The first thing to say is that the staff are great, nothing too much trouble and really cheerful despite having to work Christmas Day, the food was excellent, for me the turkey with all the trimmings was a disappointment,... We ate off the Al a Carte menu but there was a Tasting menu and separate dinner menu also. The food was all delicious and beautifully presented. The Yorkshire Pig Head to toe, was particularly delicious, with pork served 7 ways. My husband had the cheeses after and there was a fantastic selection to choose from. Lovely waiting staff too....
