After a long walk on the Moors I dropped in to this place and was pleased I did. Welcoming service, decent coffee and a good selection of treats and more substantial food. The focal point is the beautiful open fire, with its black surround. Gorgeous heat. It's not the largest place but quite a few tables and a few comfortable... More

Had snack in front of roaring fire on very cold day. Very friendly staff, quick service and good choice of tasty food. Had sandwiches, scones and coffee. Good value for money. Selection of newspapers and magazines to read.

We had just had a walk around this picturesque village and stopped for a coffee and a scone, god what have I turned in to. Anyway this is a nice tidy cafe, the coffee was really nice and the scones fantastic, a bit on the expensive side but everything in Helmsley is. A nice roaring fire as well which is... More

Good coffee and scones in pleasing surroundings. We have visited before and will go back again. The fire both indoors and out makes it so welcoming. The service is good and so friendly

Lovely, cosy atmosphere -open fire, delicious cakes and very good coffee -even the de-caf latte tasted like proper coffee. Good place to be on a chilly afternoon - haven't been to Helmsley for a while but this place is as good as ever.

I go to the Porters whenever I'm in the area. Everything is always very tasty and served really lovely, even an usual sandwich! The open fire inside makes the place look very cosy and warm. The only thing I don't like is that there is not much space inside, so the tables are, in my opinion, slightly too close to... More

Our first visit, on the recommendation of friends we were with and we loved it! Great selection of cakes on a busy Sunday lunch time. My fruit scone with jam and butter was delicious and comfy battered leather sofas to relax into. Will definitely call in when we next pass through.

Just off the main square this cafe serves goof coffee. There is a real fire which makes it a great place on a cool day. Owner can be a bit frosty at times. There is a good outside area at back with heater if you have the dogs with you

Slightly expensive I thought .... 2 pots of tea (albeit one very strange mix for my partner), and a scone with jam and clotted cream - £8+. Tbh though I think they are all the same in Helmsley! Pleasant little tea room, nice decor, comfy seats, roaring fire, friendly staff and a very lovely scone!
