My husband and I visited Kota on Saturday, our first weekend away without our beautiful children, to celebrate both my birthday and our wedding anniversary. Wow!! The food was mind blowing , I could not believe the quality and presentation of my meal for such a reasonable price. The waitresses were attentive without being smothering, the restaurant was full giving... More

The quality of the food and cooking are excellent and imaginative. The restaurant itself however lets the food down. We found it quite dark and dreary and just not what we expected from a modern restaurant. Simple things like removing the blinds, lighter decoration, better lighting and modern furniture would match the quality of the food and make the whole... More

I am so glad you found the meal to be excellent at Kota, but disappointed that you didn't like the décor of the restaurant. We are by no means a modern restaurant, and have never advertised ourselves as such. Kota is in a old granary building, over 200 years old, with low beamed ceilings and thick walls. We don't want... Lovely place to eat. Service was outstanding on both occasions we visited. This restaurant is fine dining so everything is beautifully presented but I would recommend you have 3 courses or 'sides' with your main meal. As with most fine dining restaurants you do not get a pile of food on you plate. They included an 'amuse bouché' once your... More

I have to say that the lunch we had at Kota recently was one of the best lunches Ive ever had in Cornwall. Ive lived here 13 years and find it increasing difficult to find really good food that well price and not tourist driven. I didn't get the impression that it was all about getting those numbers through the... More

Let's get the negative out of the way first - poor lighting in the restaurant - we were sat by a window so not a problem, but overall a dingy ambience (not romantic!) which is in complete contrast to the excellent food. As a party of four we ordered al la carte, though there is an excellent set menu option,... More

The quality of the food was excellent and the service attentive, friendly and polite; I have no hesitation in recommending Kota. The scallops starter was really special and we both enjoyed our main dishes of hake and turbot respectively.

Over the years I have always found the staff so attentive and they never rush you. We had Parma Ham wrapped pork tenderloin & pork belly and Pan fried hake fillet with lemongrass & lime leaf bisque. Presentation and service was first class. The sweets were delicious; choc tarts and poached pear. Over all the years we have been coming... More

We visit The Lizard regularly and if Kota is open we always ensure we book a table. It's one of the best restaurants in the region. We love the combination of local produce with a frequent Asian twist. The amuse Bouches and home-made bread offered before the meal are always delicious. Presentation is impeccable and staff always friendly. Keep up... More

This is a restaurant for the special occasion. The staff are confident, well organised and pleasant. It is a place to linger over a meal rather than "eat and leave". Having said this, they do have a second sitting but there is no pressure to leave. The food is well presented and a great deal of care has been employed... More
