Happened along this restaurant on the beach , but much better than your average beach side taverna . The host has been doing this for a number of years and has got it just right , from the fresh fish to the local specialties and the local wine all served with his own brand of humour that all go down... We ate here on several occasions, as the food was tasty and reasonably priced. The owner/waiter was friendly and helpful, often providing a dessert free of charge (a kind of set milk pudding which was very moreish). The digestif of ouzo and fruit juice was a refreshing end to our final meal there too. Overall a lovely little restaurant with... More

Had lunch here on a couple of occasions as we were half-board at our hotel. The waiter (proprietor?) most friendly and accommodating. Just a nice laid-back spot. Appreciated the freebie tot of ouzo+"something" at the end along with the grapes and fruit jellies.

Had lunch and dinner at Socrates a couple of times during our week long stay in Agia Pelagia. The food was excellent and good value. The view from the terrace is amazing but the best thing about Socrates is the service. Manos and his young assistant are the perfect hosts. Will be sure to visit again if I'm ever back... More

A delicious lunch 2 metres away from the beach! One portion of taramasolata to share, 2 grilled daurades with all the trimmings, a litre each of sparkling water and rose wine for only 35 Euros! And at the end, with the usual Cretan hospitality, lemon flavoured ouzo, grapes and panacotta. Definitely worth a visit!

We ordered fish plate for 2 persons. Very ling waiting...40 min...there were only 6 tables in taverna where people were. Not big portion. Two filles, two big shrimps ( not so big), two portions of sardines, salad and french potatotes. Sardines were burned at all. Not tasty another fish. Some burned evetything. So we were unsatisfied and upset.

I would say it is just another restaurant on the beach side as the others. Nothing that stands out too much. We tried most of the tavernas and we didn't find anything remarkable about this one. We found the service average and the food lacking flavour. Wasn't too tasty but not too bad either. Their wifi though works really good.

Free.bread and pesto oil and complimentary lemon ouzo after your meal . The owner is so lovely and told us about the life in age pelagia before tourist arrived. The young waiter was very good and looked so happy doing his job . Doubt if we will come back to Crete as so many places to visit but this restaurant... More
