We had sat outside this restaurant in order to be served but after about 15 minutes we were left sitting. We decided we would go inside for table service and sat down at a table. We had the menu (in French) and we made a choice. We were the second lot of people in this part of the room at... More

If you come with children, be sure you wil be received with hostility. We were not welcomed at all and the waitress suggests us to leave if we were not up to order what she wanted. It was not acceptable; we moved to another restaurant where we found a friendlier staff. Too bad for them!

My husband and I were seated in a light room at the back of the restaurant that has a light wood ceiling and partial walls. He ordered the plat de jour of sautéed pork, pomme frites and salad and I ordered the California salad with chicken, avocado and cheese and both were very good. They were very busy for lunch... We had one local dish with sausage, and an entrecote with bllue cheese sauce. Place looked great. Service was slow but good. Food, unfortunately was slightly disappointing. It has been served well, was looking good, but: 1. Meet was just poor quality. I would say very poor and even a genius wouldn't make it delicious. 2. Prices vs quality. ~20... More

We popped into this place on a warm July evening. I'm sure we were the only tourists present, which meant we could savour a truly French experience, with a wonderful atmosphere that was great for people-watching! The food was very good, and I particularly recommend their creme brulee as dessert. Prices were very reasonable.

The portion are huge at this brasserie at the main avenue of Pontarlier. They have a lunch set for 8 EUR and the service is friendly. I had the saucisse de Marceau with morilles mushrooms, my GF a mix platter with sausages and ham. The café gourmand was equally interesting.

We had a great experience discovering Brasserie Le Grand Cafe Francais. We visit Sainte-Croix in Switzerland, and I just get fed up with how weak the dollar is against the Swiss Franc. Pontarlier is 20 minute car ride into France where we can get some groceries and stop for lunch without draining our funds. We even decided to go back... More

Visited café many times over the last 3 years and always enjoyed our lunch time experience. The food is cooked fresh , good sized portions and arrives quickly with a smile from the service staff. The environment is traditional French café style which I love plus clean (including the toilets).
