Worth the trip! My new favorite place to visit when in Maine. Delicious food and great people.

I can’t say enough about this gem. I chose to walk to it from the dock, and it made me appreciate the essence of the island. Cesar greeted me at the order window, and became my friend the next few hours with my toddler and baby. I ordered the lobster roll and it was delicious. My son had a PB&J that was made perfect (I stole a few bites). They have sandwiches, soups, kids meals, burger, milkshakes coffee and ice cream. I’m probably forgetting something. Get yourself the refreshing cranberry lemonade! The volunteers around the cafe were so friendly and helpful. We missed our ferry, and had the pleasure of relaxing here another 2 hours. My children didn’t mind- there was a lego table and an arts and crafts cottage next door. Ponds to explore behind the store as well. I can’t wait to return!!

Cute place with great local feel

We were there to wander the island for a couple hours and have lunch. Staff was friendly and tolerant of all my questions about local “life”. We had the lobster roll and the curry chicken sandwich with cranberry lemonade. All of it was great! If we went back we would probably try something else only because there were many good sounding choices on the menu.

Great lunch spot

We had a delicious lunch at Hitty's during our visit to Great Cranberry. I had a great curried chicken salad sandwich and a nice glass of real unsweetened tea. Others in our group loved the lobster BLT and the turkey club. There's ample seating on deck and lawn, under umbrellas, and you can visit the historical society and a gift shop and thrift store, too! Hitty's is a great part of an island visit.

Great Sandwich Shop On Great Cranberry Island

Here is a nice place to grab a quick sandwich while exploring Great Cranberry Island. Full health compliant employees get the job done well. Outside seating area and walk up ordering and meal pick up.

Lunch at Hilty’s

We ate lunch here everyday during our weeklong stay on GBI. Despite a limited menu, we were very happy with the choices. Cezar and his staff were very friendly.

Lunch And More

On Sept 13-21 we ventured out to Cranberry Island to see what has been over the years .They have done alot .Hitty,s Cafe has good food and drinks.To see the Island they do have shuttle with the driver expalining the history of the island.Overall it was well worth the trip .The Ferry from SouthWest Habor is about 30 minute rtrip and the harbor ws nice to see !!

Perfect lunch spot on Cranberry Island! Food was delicious with excellent, friendly service. Definitely try the cranberry lemonade and lobster bisque!

What a Gem!

Hitty’s cafe was a real Gem. The owner was super friendly and engaging (from a distance during Covid). The lobster BLT was amazing. Cute little place. Only disappointment- no Beer :(.

Worth a Journey

An outstanding destination for a real Down East dining experience - that is to say "friendly local". Cezar Ferreira handles the cooking and preparations single handily - which in the crowded summer weekends might entail a small wait. The clam chowder is the best on Mount Desert Island. The lobster rolls, excellent - packed with meat and little else. An easy ride on the Mail Boat from Northeast Harbor or Southwest Harbor. Worth a Journey!

When we are up hear on our Fall Vacation we always come out here because it is very nice and peaceful.They have done allot for the Island and what they expect to do in the future. they have a place called Hitty's Cafe which the food is good '

Great hospitality.

We happened up at Hitty’s while taking a walk and since it was too early for lunch, we stopped for a cup of tea. The owner was so friendly, we decided to come back later for lunch. It was THE BEST lobster roll we had while in Maine and the clam chowder was also delicious. A fun, casual place to go. Thanks, Cesar, for the warm welcome. Linda and Phil from Georgia

Decent food, poor service

We went thinking this would be a fun destination, no real expectations. I don’t like to leave bad reviews and usually don’t, but feel I needed to warn others. While the food was decent & just a bit overpriced (which we understood since it’s all imported), the guy there was awful and appeared to hate island visitors. No greeting, just a cold stare when we approached, then no eye contact & rude comments when we ordered. Pretty island but next time we’d skip and head to Little Cranberry to check out the restaurant there, plus it seemed like a more lively place.

Off the beaten path

We took a boat from NE Harbor to Great Cranberry and walked the one paved road. Came upon Hitt's Cafe and stopped for lunch. If was 'off season' on a very quiet and friendly island. Hitt's turns out to be a focal point for activities of the residents on the island. The owner knew all about the place and apparently very involved other than operating the Cafe. A nice and relaxing stopover for a simple lunch and a friendly chat.
