Restaurant on the estate of one the most important producers of wine in Italy, and yet you can drink their delicious Brusco dei Barbi for 6.5 Euros per bottle: or very serious Brunellos at very reasonable prices (e.g. their Brunello Vigna del Fiore). And excellent...More

We came to this taverna twice in the past years to have lunch right before the cellar opens for tasting of their very nice Brunello wines. And each time we had a pleasant lunch on the terrace with decent food quality (although far from being...More

Outstanding food. I had the steak and bruschetta, both were fantastic. Service was good despite the reviews. I was more impressed with their cheaper wines than their cru(for the price anyway).

The whole experience here was lovely. The waiters were attentive and welcoming and the food was fab too. We recommend the boar cooked in a traditional way and of course, the Brunello!

We booked a table for lunch. We made a mistake and sat outside - the bees were so annoying and the chairs really uncomfortable. The service was poor. There seemed to be mass confusion amongst the waiting staff. Also there was a giant group of...More

We stopped at this renowned winery producing excellent Brunello wines. At the taverne we felt very unwelcome. It took about 15 minutes before our waiter noticed us. Then remarks as only two glasses of wine and a lunch were thrown at us. Service was to...More

The winery closes for lunch and thus food os served. Very relaxed and impersonal service. Food is reasonable and wines served by the glass. Good way to pass the waiting for the winery to open.

Already fifty years ago there were a great many visitors to the Fattoria dei Barbi, and many of them asked to be able to accompany their tasting of Brunello with a taste of cured meats and cheeses, maybe even with some roasts typical of the area or a plate of hand-rolled pinci. Thus the Taverna was created, where visitors could rest after a tour of the cellars and taste the dishes characteristic of Montalcino. After more than half a century, the Taverna dei Barbi still follows the same tradition. At the tables set outside or around the big fireplace that dominates the main dining room, diners can taste the dishes typical of the Tuscan tradition and of Montalcino in particular, prepared as they have always been but also with a touch of modernity, while always respecting the flavors of a time gone by. Homemade pasta, sauces, soups and meats accompanied by Fattoria dei Barbi wines enable visitors to live a unique experience and to enjoy the luxury of Tuscan simplicity.
