We stopped for lunch without a reservation for a table of two. Because of the winery tour reservations on line, we were unable to make a dining reservatio online. We were told all patio tables were taken when several were open and it was not early. We sat inside in the empty dining room. That is when we should have... More

My wife and I dined here on our last day in Italy; we found it searching Trip Advisor for a restaurant near our hotel "Le Raignaie" in Montalcino. We were served by Michael who was also our most capable sommelier, and was more than accommodating in discussing the area, the wines and the food with us. The food was remarkable.... More

The meal we had at Poggio Antico, a winery just south of Montalcino, was one of the best of many great meals we had in our recent trip to Italy. Highlights were a pasta stuffed with egglant and suckling pig with an interesting sauce involving cream of cauliflower. Oddly, the waiter recommended a wine from somewhere else instead of one... We stopped in for dinner here after doing a late tour and tasting at the Poggio Antico winery. When we saw the nearly empty dining room, we wondered if we had made a big mistake. However, we learned that most people come to this restaurant for lunch when they visit the winery. And, as it was dark by the time... More

We expected the best and it was by far the worst meal we have had in Italy, and we have been here 10 days! The food was bland at best. The salmon appetizer was ok but uninspiring, quite frankly salmon sashimi has more taste. The veal cheeks were inedible, I defy anyone to be able to swallow luke warm fat.... More

Dear Mr. Forte We are very hate for your reviews. We hope to see next time in a restaurant for taste one more veal and tartar. But in your check the veal and the tartar was offer because the waiter see your disappointed when you have taste your main courses. When the veal and the tartar was not good for... More

Sure, get a bistecca and local foods while visiting Tuscany--they're excellent and put you in-touch with local traditions. However, it is possible to experience modernist cuisine at Poggio Antico. Molecular gastronomy meets Tuscan tradition: that's a winning combination. The chef has access to the excellent local produce, cheeses and cured meats, and smashes expectation.

We just enjoyed having a leisurely lunch here before a tour and tasting at the winery..We both ordered the 5 course "Revisitation of the Territory"..The food was excellent..We especially enjoyed the San Gimignano saffron risotto and the Veal Cheek with Vinsanto sauce and black truffle pearl was melt in your mouth delicious. Also the Vinsanto/mascarpone dessert sprinkled with dark chocolate... More

Food was excellent. Beautifully cooked and presented. Lots of flavour to tempt any palate. Please note that it is well outside of the town

Our group of 6 ate lunch at the restaurant following the Poggio Antico winery tour and tasting. The setting and service was excellent, but we found the food to be overrated, pricey and small in portion compared to other meals we had in Italy. The menu was a bit flowery in describing the food with phrases such as "a dusting... More

After our guided tour of the winery, and after our tasting, we opted to have lunch is the small, quiet restaurant on site of the Poggio Antico winery. The chef must take great pride in making delicacies that are unique in their presentation. The service was great and we were treated like we were the special guests of the day.... More
