8/10/21 - ROT - Mevlana Shisha Bar We three middle aged London guys were on our last day of a fortnight on the island before we flew off in the evening. We had checked out of our hotel, Knights of Old Town, leaving our bags to collect later so had some time to explore this wonderful city although a cruise ship had just deposited a few thousand tourists. We had been up the Roloi Clocktower, had a drink there and another in Maria’s Meze below it. We wandered down the very touristy street and happened on this ancient establishment! It was surprisingly completely empty but it looked so inviting and the dates quoted above the doors meant we just had to try it out! We three do not smoke let alone do the Shisha thing so we would see what was on offer once inside. We arrived around 16:10 and inside the decor was amazing as one can see from the pictures. We took a table near the counter and a very jolly young woman popped over to present us with a menu. We said we only really wanted to drink so ordered a Turkish coffee (this was more Turkish than Greek obviously), and a bottle of retsina to share ( not Turkish but a good price!). The drinks arrived quickly with a small bowl of peanuts, which was nice. The coffee came with a glass of water s as usual. The woman was very friendly and obviously had time for us so we chatted. She was from Albania and luckily we had been there and could speak some basic words! She was very impressed and flattered! As we were getting on I thought we should eat a tiny snack so chose some quince in syrup and Turkish delight both of which were small portions but quite sweet and tasty so quite adequate! As we drank and nibbled I looked the place up on TA and found, to our great surprise, it was #1! This is the second time this has happened, the first being in Faliraki in the wonderful ‘Village Taste’ we stumbled across. Normally it takes a lot to persuade my friends to find and maybe even try out a town’s #1! The waitress said it usually got much busier in the evening. I was so impressed that I posted on my fb profile the first post since our arrival. We left at about 16:50 slightly merrier and happier having been somewhere of antiquity and uniqueness with a jolly friendly barwoman!

Excellent shisha. Very smooth and lots of different flavours. Best shisha in Rhodes. Drinks reasonably priced. Beautiful old ottoman style building full of lots of charm. Honestly a must visit if you love a shisha. Highly recommend. Eracli made us his own mix of flavours which was delicious.

We visited this bar in the evening spontaniously, when we walked through old city. Owner was very kind, give us a history lection (oldest cafe in Europe) and made to us one of the best apple-mint shisha ever. You just have to stop and try it, when you are on foot exploring old town :)

Such a beautiful, authentic place to visit for a little coffee, drinks and socialising. Shisha with ice pipe very recommended and is one of the best wI have had in Greece/the world. Dr Shisha was very attentive and gave a personal touch to our visit by spending time with us and making sure we happy and comfortable throughout our evening. We can't wait to go again!! Thank you Hercules see you later :)

Definitely one of our favourite places in Rhodes!! We came here twice because the hookah was so good (try the watermelon) and the owner is so so nice! We stumbled upon this cute and authentic tea house while walking through the medieval city pretty late at night and noticed that there were quite a lot of people inside. This is always a sign that a place is good, and it was!

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this lovely bar whilst walking through the old town on an evening. The atmosphere was great, there was a lot of customers sat outside. We were seated inside, the area of our choice. The staff seemed passionate about the business, especially with the history of the location - they were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. The inside was mesmerising so much history in one place, it looked like it never has never been changed and it has been ran by the same family for over 200 years. The building itself is protected and decor inside is authentic, down to the stone pattern floor. There was a small problem with the card machine which needed my boyfriend to withdraw money from an ATM - the owner apologised and joined us in a free shot given on the house for the inconvenience. We would definitely recommend and we will be going again. A great authentic experience.

This place is a must visit if you're anywhere near Rhodes old town. Even if you don't want shisha, which is one of the best I've tasted, you will not be disappointed. Beautiful setting, beautiful building(14th century, check out the original floor), amazing coffee and best of all, amazing staff. I guarantee you will feel at home.

Stopped here as we'd read the great reviews but honestly couldn't find anything special about it . Service was slow and indifferent ,beer was 3.80 and an iced coffee 3.50 . Bar looked quite interesting inside and is obviously very old . They weren't serving food

I visited Rhodes Town and this amazing little bar 7 years ago (1st photo)and so pleased to see Hercules is still here.Although, call him George Clooney and he'll be your friend for life ! He makes you so welcome and the bar is so relaxing with a lovely traditional feel to it. Prices are half the price of those In the square and you can watch the world go by while drinking your boot of beer. Thank you for the welcome, we will surely be back 😀 🍺👢

We visited Mevlana for a coffee whilst having a break from sightseeing. The service was very friendly and the coffee excellent - not usually seeing options for Turkish coffee with cinnamon or mastika, we had one of each. Both were lovely and sitting in a building dating back 6 centuries - a fantastic change 😊

Most beautiful place to stop for a drink. Incredibly friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and great drinks. The homemade lemonade is incredible and coffee is very good. Was lovely to chat to the gentleman who works there, who told us all about the history of the shop and helped us choose a shisha flavour. I’m glad we discovered this place at the start of our holiday because we will definitely go back! Thank you for being so welcoming!!

The place is amazing!!! So much history and beauty, a very good traditional coffee, served with love and care by the wonderful owner and his staff. The establishment has been in the family for over 200 years and has kept its roots, never changing, in order for the people to have a place to enjoy a good time, every time. This is the reason I believe they kept the prices low, affordable for locals and tourists alike. Also, I have managed to get a photo with the owner, and I very happy about that! We shared some stories about family and traditions... Not many places where you can do that this days, everyone is about making money, not about having a conversation... In conclusion, I highly recommend this place, you won't regret it!

My first experience at the Mevlana shisha bar it was last summer in a time period when everything was difficult with the circumstances of COVID. Mevlana was the perfect place for stress relief and cultural excitement due to all this situation. From the moment it closed for the winter season I was waiting with great excitement for it to open again. I've been trying shisha since I was sixteen years old in several different places in Greece and I never had such good quality of shisha with the aura of the place in harmony with decoration and sensation of medieval atmosphere. Shisha 10\10 Middle eastern music 10/10 Hygiene 10/10 Decorations and artifacts with all the history and cultures that passed from the island from past centuries. The most welcoming Greek hospitality. My favourite place on the island!

I’m a big shisha fan an regularly go to different shisha spots when I’m abroad and at home. This is without doubt the best shisha that I have ever had. The owner was very attentive and ensured that my friends and I had the best experience possible.
