I have lived in Santa Teresa for 6 months now and this spot is gorgeous , the food is mainly good but the service is shocking and every single time I have been there they haven’t had something available , such a shame!

- Best food I have experienced in CR so far - Top location directly at the ocean - Very friendly, happy and helpful service - Great ambiente with relaxing latin music If you stay in Santa Teresa this restaurant is a must visit!

Prime location on the beach with comfortable seating and great drinks. We ordered 4 items off the menu, and each of them were most inedible especially the ceviche and octopus that was cooked in a red wine sauce. With so many incredible restaurants in Santa...Teresa, we were very disappointed.More

We got the Carmel and mocha frapes and they’re honestly really bad. Don’t recommend. Either incredibly sweet or tastes like water. Not like coffee. Don’t recommend.

Two stars because the location is beautiful, everything else is disappointing. Sat there multiple times and it takes a lot of effort to get served by someone.First drinks will be finished in the first few minutes and almost always in order to get a second...round you have to either walk to the bar and get it yourself or wave someone down or youll sit there for an hour without anything. Its agonizing to watch the way this place was operated pre covid, now i simply cannot enjoy it . Prices are high too.More

Great place for a nice meal rain or shine. I love the pizza with goat cheese and honey and the veggie burger is really nice!

The food was very good, the cocktails were excellent, but people from the bar was working without the mask or anything to protect us from the COVID-19, and the worst was that they were not only opperating behind the bar, they were sometimes going out...and talking to clients without any protection. How could it be possible at this times?More

Not worthy....we arrived before 4pm with the intention of ordering 2 ceviches to go - waiter informed us that the kitchen open at 4pm - he didn’t made us felt welcome and offer a sit whilst the wait...so we seated ourselves - waiter didn’t offered...a drink whilst the wait (poor customer service plus revenue opportunity lost for them). Finally we ordered drinks, a soda michelada (with lemon and ring salt)... waiter said he had to check if he could make it since he was by himself (we were the only table by then) - I was about to go behind the bar and make it myself - we ordered the ceviches close to 4pm so whenever kitchen is ready they could start preparing it - 4pm, another table arrives and ordered - 4:10pm, the other table’s food arrived earlier than ours despite we ordered firstly - we are still waiting for ours - I stand up to ask for the check - our waiter ignored us - another waiter had to print the bill for us - 4:15pm, we got the food! All in all, poor service, people skills, and care for their own business...go and spend your money elsewhere... @manager - I read other reviews and responses you made - please don’t waste your time answering to this one - all your responses are: “yes, but...yes, but...yes,but” Excuses...excuses...excuses...More

We arrived at el Carmen a little before 4 pm, and the waiter (clearly annoyed by our presence) informed us that the kitchen opened at 4, we decided to have a drink while we wait. He continued doing his things without offering us the menu...nor anything to drink, we had to get the menus by ourselves (the menu smelled really bad, like humid rag). After some time, the waiter came back to asked us if we wanted to drink something, and again was pretty annoyed by my request, since he claimed he was by himself at the restaurant. After 4, we saw how another table, which arrived after us, got there food before we did. The food was ok, but it really didn’t make up for the rude and bad service we got. Even though there is not to many places open in Santa Teresa due to Covid, I would not recommend this place, spend your money elsewhere.More

FINALLY!!!!! Santa Teresa is home to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The one thing missing for so long is a great place to enjoy breakfast on the beach. El Carmen is the only place where you can sit and enjoy gallo...pinto, pancakes, and many other delicious breakfast options with a view of the surf front and center! All breakfast choices include coffee and a fruit plate. I would suggest better signage on the main road so that those new to town know this! They do also serve lunch and dinner and all very reasonably priced. I recently had some very tasty fish and chips as well as delicious brick oven pizza. The owner and staff are all super friendly too!More
