I have spent 5 weeks in Santa Teresa the past two winters and I eat out every night. So, you can imagine that I have a pretty good knowledge of the ever-changing restaurant scene here. One of my favorite choice is Alma Restaurant. This small, intimate and beautiful restaurant is run by a Chilean mother who is gregarious, quite beautiful... More

Alma is set back off the dusty road, very quiet, with great music everynight. The food is presented very well and tastes even better. They have a great selection of wine that matches the food very well. In town i have heard nothing but great things about them from locals and travelers alike. My favorite there is the Tuna tartare... We had heard from several locals that they serve good tasty food here, but when we tried, they didnt take credit cards. Although not too uncommon here, unfortunately for Alma, the closest cash ponit is all the way at the crossroads in Playa Carmen. (I heard there will be a closer ATM opening this dry season though!)

I just read the other reviews of this place as being overpriced and had to write a review of my own. I have been traveling to this part of Costa Rica for 7 years or so. The town, waves and people are amazing but compared to the rest of Costa Rica the food is lacking, my guess is it is... More

the place is nice, the food was ok, we were a group of 5 people so it took over an hour to get our dinner. No dust, that was great. but other than that....well it was really more expensive than a dinner at a very fancy restaurant in the US. it was also very loud.

Alma was the only restaurant me and my wife repeted in Santa Teresa. The food was great especially the rainbow sushi and the Tuna. Also the Daikiris were super good and this restaurant does not has the typical dust problem of almost all other restaurants in Santa Teresa...in brief don not miss this restaurant if you go to Santa Teresa.

The atmosphere was great, the mojitos were great, the appetizer biscuits were great, but the food was not so great. The fish of the day was tuna, it was fresh and prepared well. The Thai chicken was ok, but not something I would ever eat again. The chicken wrapped around shrimp and fried was raw - pink transparent chicken. My... More
