If you're a fan of fresh seafood, you need to check out Luba Laruga, a small shack-like restaurant right on the beach. My wife and I walked up and saw a sandwich board outside listing the various options. Everything looked amazing and we had grilled conch and grilled grouper stuffed with lobster. For sides we had breadfruit (had never had it before...reminds me of fried yuca), rice, beans, plantains, and salad. Luba Laruga only has beer or soda for beverages, FYI, so we had a few Belikins while we watched the sunset. We also played with Tyra, the owner's daughter who was adorable and kept offering us her dinner! Lol! You've gotta stop here. It's incredible.

Beautiful, cozy spot on the ocean with the kindest, most welcoming owner!!! We were singing and laughing all night. And really reasonably priced! Well worth the visit!! Highly recommend getting off your resort or out of your comfort zones to try the local restaurants, you won't be disappointed!!

The extensive menu was quite impressive with a focus on seafood delicacies. I always make this my go-to spot as the food is exceptional, the service good, and the vibe laid back, with a great view of the ocean, literally a stones throw away. A great eatery and highly recommended 👍🏼

We went here on the recommendation of our resort manager. Unfortunately we were disappointed. Server seemed new (unaware of details of the menu items) and overall just seemed quite unsure of himself. Biggest disappointment was the food, which was decidedly bland. We both had the stuffed grouper (one with shrimp and one with lobster). Dish was lacking in flavor and seasoning. Had plantain chips on the side and they arrived cold, not crisp and not seasoned at all. We had much better elsewhere. Would not recommend.

The freshest fish you can get, caught that morning served that evening. This place has no fancy anything but you will leave completely satisfied! It is the best hidden gem in Hopkins. The food it amazing. The cook is a very talented man. Everything on your plate will leave you wanting more even though you are stuffed.

Spotted this place after we stopped by the Bach. Had lobster with breadfruit and plantain chips as sides - when they mentioned they had breadfruit I knew it was going to be a good time.
The fried breadfruit was AMAZING, and if it wasn’t for the lobster, it would have been the highlight of my meal

When I hosted a yoga retreat in Hopkins, I would ride or walk down to this restaurant on the beach and order food for my retreat guests. The guys would take the order and cook everything up fresh on the spot. There are hammocks, tables, and chairs you can hang out in on the beach, have a nice drink and watch the waves, get some sun or go for a swim before your food arrives. There is a little dock over the water here as well. Try the lobster if it's in season when you're in town!

We were recommended to go here by a local and probably wouldn't have found it if we hadn't been searching for it. Luba Laruga is a very basic beach shack - right on the shore but we had a delicious meal here. The menu was fairly limited but authentic and fresh. We ate the best fish dish that we had in Belize here. The service was relaxed and friendly. The cocktails were good too! Don't expect anything fancy but if you want delicious fresh fish at reasonable prices while listening to the ocean this is definitely worth a try.

The food here is seriously amazing. Stumbled upon this because it was near our beach cabin at Cocunut Row. Luba Laruga was absolutely delicious. As a true foodie, gotta have seafood when near the ocean. This was so fresh and well seasoned. My recommendation is to get snapper fillet or whole fish, garlic potatoes and plantains. I know it’s carb heavy but trust me it’s worth it. And the scenery is so nice.

It took two and a half hours to get our order. Granted they only charged us for one dish due to the wait and that they were out of what we ordered (would have been nice to know 2 hours prior). Still, some local kids roamed by and put on a heck of a show with drums and dancing to keep us and the other waiting diners entertained. Lobster tails were OK. Fried conch was rubbery and not in the good way. If you are able to get there earlier you might have a better experience.

It's been 3 years since we last ate at Luba Laruga. I believe they have a new owner/chef. Meal was fantastic. Coconut shrimp, garlic potatoes, fried bread fruit. Also had an option for a side of veggies - not a lot of places in Hopkins where that's offered. Won't wait 3 years to go back!

Fantastic little place right in the beach. Super friendly family who welcomed me to drink and chat with them all.
At one point I was amongst 30 family and felt privileged to chat to several generations.
