We were able to walk here for dinner from Hopkins Bay Resort, which was a big plus. It's right on the beach and has a relaxed, friendly local feel. We were there 2 weeks before Christmas, just before the high season. They didn't have everything...on their menu, but they made up for that with good humor and attentiveness - thanks Albert! We had fish and pork, with plantain fries. It was all good, and we had a fun evening! The prices were a bargain, esp compared to resort restaurants. We'd go back again for sure!More

Had a whole grilled snapper with homemade casalla!? fries (which were great) for only 12 Belize $. Try the hot sauce (again homemade). Really worth a visit! Reserved the Hudut for lunch tomorrow and hope it's as tasty as today.

Went here after ziplining and the food was just as exciting as the activity! This was the best chicken and stew beans and rice I had anywhere. Really chill atmosphere directly on the beach with a gorgeous view. It was good and very inexpensive, I...would highly recommend the place!More

Laruni Hati is probably better as a lunch destination than dinner. Three of us who were staying nearby looked for it long and hard after dark, and finally saw a hand-lettered sign pointing toward the beach. It was down 100 yards or so, with few...lights visible and no customers whatsoever on the small patio. But we plunged on, and went to the kitchen area to talk with the friendly proprietess, who was happy to serve us. Selecting from a menu right there, we placed our orders and went out to sit on the patio - rough benches around a set of four tables, with sand at our feet. Adornment? Fuggetaboudit. When the food did come - and things are casual in Hopkins, meaning a half-hour wait isn't unusual - it was fine. My brother and his buddy had fried jacks - a bit like coarse turnovers - and stewed gibnut, which we later identified as paca, a big rodent - something like a large ground squirrel or marmot. Their verdict - pretty good, but greasy and a bit gamey. I had a blackened snapper that was fine but not exactly memorable. Laruni Hati is a different experience for Americans, and clearly more Third World than most restaurants in Belize. That made it memorable, if difficult to truly recommend on the basis of either ambiance (definitely minimal) or cuisine.More

Marva serves delicious Belizean food for a reasonable price. We had dinner there twice and were satisfied. The restaurant is located directly on the beach. You must try the hudut, a traditional Garifuna dish that is served only a few times a week (ask her...during the day if she serves it and you can reserve your meal). Marva is very friendly, you will have a personalized experience.More

This is one of the few beach-front places still owned locally. We had lunch and ordered fish and thought it was delicious. Everything was cooked fresh. The view was also beautiful. Great prices. It was hard to find, but if you just ask around, it...is worth the exploration! Most locals know it as "Marva's restaurant".More

My husband and I ate here on our first night in Hopkins. It was 1 of 2 restaurants very nearby where we were staying, so we took a quick walk over. It looked deserted, but we knocked on the door and were greeted warmly. I...ordered pork chops with a baked potato and husband had grilled fish. Both of our meals were tasty and prepared well. It took a little while for our food to come as everything was prepared fresh. Don’t miss the pickled vegetable/hot sauce mixture that they make homemade there. it is delicious but one of the hottest things I have ever had!More

We ate here several times during our stay because it was close to the drum center. The food was very average. The pricing was very reasonable which kept us coming back.

if you want to feel and live Hopkins Village - you have to hit this place. our daughter played all week with the local kids around here and was in absolute heaven. the food is wonderful, fresh and home cooked. the hospitality and warmth you...feel from Miss. Marva and the patrons is unparralled. the view and the sound of the ocean is music to your ears. yes, the sand fleas are annoying but this shouldn't deter you from visiting here. we ate here and at Queen Beans all week and wouldn't have changed a thing. this place is what hopkins is about. Fresh Fish. BBQ Chicken. Rice and Beans. Stuffed Jack. Belikin Beer. Lighthouse. couldn't have asked for better meals... come here and spend an hour or two and just chill out, you will not regret it.More
