We popped in for lunch on a scorching summer's day, and found their cute little courtyard to be a welcome shade spot.
The food we had was great, and the menu variety looked good for a larger meal such as dinner as well. Strawberry Milkshakes...really hit the spot!
It looks like it would be great for dinner as well, with a wide menu and reasonably priced *wine* by the glass or bottle!
Nice service too. A good spot for any meal in Izamal by my reckoning.More
The food here was amazing but the genuine truly sincere service we received from Alvaro and the whole staff. The adorable chef making the wonderful tortillas by hand was just to cute for words. The tacos made with her tortillas were great! The nachos were...original with a great Yucatecan flair. Take a moment to see the huge bread oven and take a minute to look at the originality of the restaurant it self. You truly made our day.More
My husband & I stopped here for a quick dinner late on a rainy night. We tried a combination plate of chaya empanadas, cheese quesadillas & chicken tostadas. In addition, we had an order of pork sopes. The food was all very good and hit...the comfort spot. The waiters made sure we never ran out of Sauvignon Blanc or whiskey & water. The carajillo I had after dinner was wonderful & my husband enjoyed his flan. Our fabulous waiter Alvaro took us on a full tour of the place after dinner. He told us all about the artwork, the bakery that used to be onsite, and some Izamal history. You could feel the pride he had in both the restaurant & in his City. It’s also conveniently located on the main zocalo. Don’t miss it if you are in Izamal!More
The staff were friendly enough, and the food not too bad. However, when it came to pay, the price of the vegetarian option had magically increased. When I queried it I was told the price had gone up but they hadn’t changed the menu yet....I had a bus to catch, so could not argue long about it. I didn’t want to pay the increase but in the end I did so but gave no tip.
I don’t know about in Mexico, but in other countries, the price in the menu is the one you pay!More
We visit Izamal at least 3 times per year and this place is (was) always high on our list. I think the owner has stopped caring. He sat at a table by himself and paid no attention to anything but his phone. The quality of...the food has gone way downhill and nobody seems to care. I had a burrito with ground beef and it was brought to me stone cold. The waiter just said "that is the way the cook gave it to me" and walked away. I had to send my first beer back because it was skunky. My dining mate had a blended mojito which was bround to him on the rocks. He returned it and it was brought back with a whole lime blended into it with no mint! We tried this place 3 times this trip and it was the same each time. Plus service is almost non-existent. Give it a pass.More
Normally on the square means serving up tourist food. We just arrived, faint with hunger and Los Arcos was a few steps from the hotel. Tacos Pok Chuc: they nailed it! freshly hand made tortillas and slow cooked pork. I had the Sopa de Lima:...fabulous stock, delicious soup. Someone in the kitchen there is a real cook. Highly recommend but don't tell anyone! Staff were so sweet and helpful, when we complimented the food they were genuinely appreciative and PROUD. Thankyou Los Arcos for keeping the quality tradition aliveMore
