how about some salads on the menu William Bray? Really liking the new look and the friendly service. The food is consistently very good but how about a nice interesting salad or two on the menu? There's not much for those of us wanting to skip the carbs and heavy stuff. And any chance of a cheeky discount for locals... More

We had a very good evening meal there on a Wednesday and the place was quite busy. Which to us is a good sign as when a place is dead mid-week there is normally a reason. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The menu is varied and the food beautifully presented and delicious. We can recommend and we will... More

Exceptional food in a lovely pub with helpful friendly staff. Can recommend the haddock and pancetta mash! Definitely worth a visit.

Lucky enough to live locally to here, and have had some lovely dinners here. Both fine dining and pub food options available. Thoroughly recommend.

We turned up with our dog without booking on a Wednesday evening. Made welcome including dog water bowl. Ordered scallops for starters (without animal fat) all accommodated for and was great, squid also great. Then we ordered rack of lamb - excellently cooked to rare. And also the sea bass - which was very well cooked but came on a... More

Having arranged to meet a friend for a summers evening walk we opted for Shere, not least for the beautiful surroundings but also as an excuse to have supper at The William Bray. Having not been for a while we were startled by the altered appearance, at first not obvious that it was a total change of ownership. Both of... More

My daughter who lives out of the country booked a table for my husband, son and granddaughter to go here for lunch on Fathers day. It is a beautiful pub in a gorgeous village and the food was good but the service was extremely slow. They were not 'run off their feet' and yet it took an hour for us... More

Decided to come here instead of the alternative Shere pub. Slightly unpleasant pervasive smell of fish was a bit off putting, but the food, although 'nouveau' pub food, was extremely good. Well prepared and cooked, and flavoursome. Would recommend to friends. Service was passable but a little casual for my liking.

Our meal was nice, nothing more. Some of the main courses were not as hot as they should be and the service was very slow, although they were not busy. Tarragon ice cream, and basil cream in a mille feuille were not welcome additions to the desert menu. A simplified menu and more attention to service would make this a... More
