This tiny place is worth the wait for a table. The atmosphere is amazing with everyone happy to be there and family style seating makes for great conversation. The portion sizes are HUGE, and the sticky toffee pudding is amazing. As for a commemorative beer glass, they sell them as souvenirs.

We visited here on a Sunday morning as we were just passing through. As it was almost 12 we looked at this place in the centre of town and it looked like a good old fashioned real pub. The notice on the door said "If we are not open then we are closed" which my husband thought was hilarious. We... More

Recently stayed in Haltwhistle and visited this pub twice once for food.On the first visit only on dog sitting quietly with its owner but in close proximity to people eating. As you can see from the picture of this quaint old fashioned bar eating area there is very little room for people let alone dogs.On our second visit we were enjoying... We visited this Inn to have Dinner for four. The selection of drinks is quite extensive and the there is something for everyone on the Menu. Although the freshly cooked food can take a little time to arrive the quality and quantity more than make up for this. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We most certainly can recommend... We were staying in a nearby apartment and visited the black bull twice. I had the chicken, bacon and haggis stack which was huge and delicious. The previous time panhaggerty with sausage, again more than I could eat. They finish serving food at 8 so don't be late. Staff were friendly and the fire was going, beer good too. My... More

Small traditional real ale pub. Offering a cozy, friendly & welcoming environment for both tourists & locals alike. We cannot provide restaurant service or capacity. Just good honest pub fayre for individuals, couples & small parties. Please note. We are unable to accommodate parties of 6 or more.
