To rate this restaurant as top 10 on the island, is an insult to every other restaurant. It is ok at best. We wanted to love it but didn’t. My steak came with extremely salty sauce and meh french fries. My wife’s lobster came with...nothing but the same 1000 island dressing that our shrimp salad came smothered in. The view should have been spectacular to watch the ocean but unfortunately the windows were so dirty that we could barely see out. The good news is the lobster crackers and forks came just at the very end of dinner so my wife was able to pick at her remnants. Our order of water at the start of the meal was forgotten, but they did offer to recork our wine to take home. So… a win?More

First, the good. The garlic bread was next level amazing. If you are a fan of this… order it! Service overall was inconsistent. Forgotten water order (yet was charged) charged for an empty glass (as if it was full… needed this to share my husband’s...wine) and when I asked for melted butter for my lobster, was told ‘only garlic butter was available’. I mean… I would think a restaurant of this calibre could melt some butter. Food was just OK. My lobster took an hour to prepare (I was warned ahead of time… no problem) and arrived cold, without any tools to eat it. (Begs the question… was it frozen?) Tools came after I finished. Sauce on the side was a ketchup mayo mix - like 1000 island - which was the same sauce drenched on my husband’s shrimp salad. Windows overlooking the water were filthy. Around 150 Euros including a bottle of wine, after we got the errors taken off the bill.More

We ventured to Ribeira Grande today after visiting Lagoa do Fogo. We had a delicious lunch at Alabote Restaurante! I had the Monk Fish with curry and enjoyed every bite. My husband had the spaghetti with meat sauce and loved that too. We each had...a beverage. The wait staff was prompt and helpful. It was one of the highlights of the day!More

This place is in walking distance of our place Quinta dos Passo and we walked about 5 minutes down cobblestone roads to get to this waterfront location. The service was wonderful. They asked if we wanted suggestions on wine and had a delicious plate of...local cheese and charcuterie and then had the best dish we had on island this far- the wreck fish in puff pastry. Definitely go here. Friendly service, delicious food, good wine, parking out front.More

Beautiful restaurant...very chic. Overlooking the Atlantic, offering great views, combined with a good menu. Prices were very reasonable throughout the menu. I had soup of the day, leek soup followed by Wreckfish in a puff pastry....very tasty.. my wife had chicken with pineapple, rice and...salad. Each had a small beer each and the bill came to 32 euro..we will definitely recommend and will be back.More

Alabote outdoor Dining has amazing views of the huge waves crashing to shore, really making dining here the best. Food was very good but the sides served were subpar, broccoli and the spinach were not great. The wrevked fish in pasty tasted great. Servicecwas slow...but not a big deal as the views made up for it.More

We had a delicious meal of grilled fish on a Sunday afternoon. The menu is varied and good quality. They offer a few vegetarian options. The servers were attentive and fluent in English. You must make a reservation during high season, regardless of the day...of the week. Great restaurant choice in Ribeira Grande.More

We didn’t make A reservation but that wasn’t A problem. They started friendly but gave us the feeling that we needed to rush! We were seated for like 10minutes and they already asked 3 times if we made A decision YET… The glasses and cuttlery...were dirty. The starter (tapas-plate) was Nice and A very Good portion for one person! But after a while when the plate wasn’t finished at all, the main course was already there! The steak was supposed to be medium rare but was very rare! The lasagne was Nice by taste but overcooked… we ordered wine but didn’t get it, also we asked to not bring it anymore because our starter was also there to drink, though they were put on the bill! After an hour, we were outside…More

After having spent the morning exploring the town and swimming in the ocean, we were looking for a spot to stop for lunch. we saw the umbrellas on this patio, parked and found our way in. We were seated outdoors and the view was outstanding:...food was fantastic. Two of us had bacon wrapped cod with shrimp served in a heated tile; delicious. The two other fish dishes at our table were also really good. Service was a little slow, but that seems to be the norm in St. Miguel: we never felt rushed to leave our table but this lunch was a little two long, almost two hours. This lunch was a little expensive but the views and quality of food were well worth it. Many cheers ...................More
