Simple food, but v tasty & well done. Wine was decent, as was value. Enough English spoken if, like us, you don't speak Portuguese, but not so much that you feel you're in a tourist trap. Reasonably friendly, nice location on the river.

Wanting to break away from the motorway (the A22) for lunch on a drive from the Algarve to the north, my fiancee suggested we visit Alcacar do Sal and try to find a restaurant she remembered eating at in her childhood more than 50 years ago. We found it, Retiro Sadino, and enjoyed an excellent meal at an outside table... More

On the way back from a long weekend of overeating in Lisbon, we resolved to have a light snack in Alcacer do San, and walk along the river to burn off some calories. Alas as we passed Retiro Saint at the beginning of the walk we saw two of our favourites for lunch on the chalkboard outside - Sopa de... More

Although the food was good: local dishes, seafood, fish and various meats, the service was extremely slow. We waited a very long time for our drinks to arrive, and after 20 minutes in the blazing heat on their outside terrace, only two beers had arrived from the 6 drinks orders that were placed. The staff was friendly but seemed to... More

One of the few restaurants in town that is open every day, the food is regional and delicious. The service is good and they speak English, if that is important to you.

We went for dinner there on the exterior but we forgot to put mosquito repelent. And want a mistake, despite the lemon candles we were attacked by mosquitos after 21h30. So we had our meal and just runned away. We had rice with lingueirão, shrimps and ameijoas. It was cooked properly and tasty. Service somehow discret and slow, but we... More

Friendly environment, we arrived late in the evening and because it was a delightful summer night we opted to stay outside (although we have been warned that mosquitos could be annoying). Later because of the children we asked to switch inside, Susana we attended us was extremely nice and super professional so she quickly arranged we could all go inside... More

Super large portions and really good low priced wine and a wonderful server made this an enjoyable experience. The salads were fresh and large. I had pork ribs so large I couldn't finish. My wife had chicken in a pot which was excellent. Another had a huge crock pot full of rice and seafood. This place was recommended by our... More
