We originally found this wonderful restaurant a few years ago, before they offered rooms and when the present owners father ran it. We thought the food, service, ambience and general welcoming atmosphere was wonderful. We visited again a few years later, when the present owner, the son of the original man, was running the business. We were delighted to find... More

A great place to visit and show friends a very friendly side of Umbria. Restaurant L'ulivo only offers a set menu with over 20 different courses, red and white wine, liquor, coffee and dolce (dessert). My problem with this menu unfortunately was that there was not one particular stand out course (nothing memorable anyway). It consisted of a lot of... More

We read about this place on Tripadvisor and thought it sounded like an Umbrian extravaganza and so tried to get in without a booking one Sunday. That was impossible. They were fully booked. So a few days later we booked for the following Sunday and were so glad we persisted. We were told to arrive at 1pm which we did... More

My wife discovered this gem on a chef's travel blog. We had to work into our itinerary based on his glowing review. An authentic local feast of 24 courses for 26 Euros, including wine, tax and gratuity?! It was a marvellous culinary exploration provided by warm, knowlegable proprietors. You gotta try it.

Son, Jason and I are saying our farewells to Italia. Driving from Milano to Apuglia to Toscano and back. In the beautiful village of Treni Italy we found a review for L'olivo. Looked good, We had no idea how good! The proprietor and cook Maurizio was gregarious, spoke some English but he didn't need to because he spoke with his... More

There is no menu. They just keep bringing small portions of many different Umbrian dishes. I think there are usually about 20 to 25 different samplings. The samplings change slightly to take advantage of the seasonal items available. Every time we have eaten there, there were 3 truffle dishes. I do not know if anyone there speaks English but that... We stayed at the nice hotel (Il Borgo Dell'Ulivo), and had dinner at the restaurant. This is a very unusual place, mainly visited by Italians. It serves a large number of small local Umbrian items and dishes. All excellently prepared, and high quality ingredients (the ham from Norcia probably the best I have gotten in Italy). It's not very sophisticated,... More

Our friends who had lived in the region for 2 years told us to eat here. It is a fixed menu for 27.50 euros. It has 24 servings of food. They call it a typical Umbrian menu. I call it the most incredible meal ever. They serve only from 8:30pm-9:30pm and dinner lasts about 2 1/2 hours. Everything is done... More
