It is really little more than a shop but there are lots of samples and the staff are very helpful. Feels less pushy than some of the other stores in town. Does get a bit difficult when busy though with everyone trying to get to the samples. Chocolate was a very different taste sensation and I enjoyed that they also... More

Plenty of chocolate for the chocolate lovers. Had a taste before actually buying, not obliged to buy of course. This is the oldest in town. We even were given a taste of hot chocolate on the house. Delicious.

The stuff are extremly friendly and give you good tips what to try. So after tasting various samples of chocholate with chilli, vanilla, orange etc. we made a decision its the... More

Absolutely best chocolate ever - made via traditional methods. Get a tasting tour and see the lab if you can. May need to call ahead.

Where chocolate making began in Europe. This shop and brilliant staff are the best in Modica. Do not bother with the modern frou- frou come and savour the tops.

You find the entrance just off the main street in Modica in kind of an alleyway. Inside the small attractive shop are all the varieties of chocolate they sell; lots of samples to try (some people seem to be having a chocolate lunch); and a window to look into the small production facility. The real production is done in a... More

If you really want to enjoy some chocolate from this region--this is the place to go. Their chocolate has no dairy so it travels really well. There are a variety of flavors to sample and purchase. Don't miss out on this great place---a must for chocoholics. :)

Even though I knew this was the original location of the Antica Dolceria Bonajuto (since 1880), I was totally unprepared for its small size and the simplicity of the shop....how refreshing and fun to visit. Great, delicious gifts to bring home. If you are into presentation, the larger chocolate tablets flavored with either vanilla or cinnamon are wrapped in an... More

We hoped to find a place that would exhibit the grinding of cocoa beans as part of the chocolate making process, but without success. While they use cocoa mass from a supplier instead of roasting and grinding their own beans, at least they are generous about allowing you to sample the varieties of candy they produce.
