You get a small glass of light sparking wine soon after you’re seated, some nibblies, and a small serving of soup to see you through until your starters or mains arrive. The food is truly exceptional, in a village of many good restaurants. Ask Michael...about the steaks, or anything on his menu, so that you get what you want. Because I’m a woman Michael wanted to direct me to the less-fatty cuts, but I love a well-marbled steak or something with a nice bit of fat, and he recommended the NY Strip. Two of those and Aged Rib-eye were a hit with our table of 3, as were the mushrooms stuffed with lobster and the soup of the day (mushroom). 2 of us saved some of our steak to take home, and it was just as delicious and tender for breakfast or lunch as it was that night. The braised lamb shank is terrific, as is the starter quick-seared hand-dived scallops. You can get a "burger" here - it's called Freshly ground Black Angus Beef Steak in Brioche, and my father said it's very good. We always bring our own plastic takeout containers to restaurants, and I often ask the wait staff or the owner what they recommend that day. Q: “How would you like your steak?” A: “I’d like my steak the way the chef thinks it’s best.” If you really like a well-done steak you should ask which cut is the best for that. These are questions that I don’t think people ask enough, and here you can feel confident that you will get an honest answer and food the way the owner/chef intend it to be.More
