A great option after a long hike. The space is really lovely. The beef burger was really, really good. Was pricey, though. And unfortunately we spent the meal listening to the same song being sung over and over and over... and over again. (They perhaps...host a choir practice?!) Still, I'd come back for that burger, and I'd been keen to try their Friday BBQ.More

Full BBQ buffet in the open air. We all enjoyed our meal especially the grilled tilapia from Lake Victoria There’s a good gift shop with a wide selection of local goods to buy. The owners ensure that profits are used locally to support employment and...education.More

Café Frikadellen is a lovely quiet haven with a well kept garden. The last time I was here in August 2016 I had a lovely barbeque on a Friday night. This time I was very disappointed with my meal and drinks on a mid week...night. My friends wanted a dry red wine - all they had was sweet. OK let's try the white, also sweet though we were told it was dry. And the price per glass was well over the normal price for Uganda, even Kampala! There was no Castle lite either One of my friends and I ordered frikadellen and potato salad. The chef had been far too liberal with the salt - spoilt what should have been a nice dish. The service was good and very friendly and she accept our complaint about the saltiness of the meal. But if they want to attract trade in Masaka, where there is a limited number of reasonably good cafes for travellers they will have to improve the range of drinks and quality of food and not overprice. There were no other customers eating on a night when the other good café was closed which seems to bear out my moans.More

A quiet haven in a busy town. Very good food, although service can sometimes be a little slow. The wifi is a great bonus when trying to get messages in and out. Had lunch there three times and a coffee stop once. The gift shop...has good quality items for all.More

Went three times in a week. Usual good service and food. Not excited about the steaks one night. Staff need more training in sorting out bills for groups. Took too long. Otherwise good!

I want to start off by saying that we have been coming to cafe frikadellen for three years as we always stop there on our way to and from mbarara to Kampala. We have always had a lovely experience there. Unfortunately on our last visit...(June 9th 2018) we had a terrible experience with the manager on site (Henrik). We ordered four meals for our family of five but chose not to order any drinks because we had sippy cups for kids and camelback water bottles with water in them. Our server (who was very kind and respectful) told us that we could not have outside drinks or his manager would be very upset. We were very surprised by this as we often bring water with us and had never had a problem in the past. We explained to the server that we only had water in the bottles as we thought there would be an exception made for water. The server just repeated that his manager would be very upset if we had outside drinks. We told the waiter we did not want to get him in trouble and we asked if we could speak to the manager directly. I really figured it was just a misunderstanding that we could clear up with the manager. The manager (henrick) came over and from the start was very upset with us. He said "we don't allow outside drinks and if you have a problem with that you can leave!" We were appalled at his abruptness and rudeness before even discussing the issue with us. My husband explained that we only had water and had never had a problem with this in the past. Henrik said again rudely "we have drinks here you can order". My husband said "ok, but can we at least keep the kids water here?" Henrik went over and grabbed a menu, opened it up to the beverage section and said "we serve water here if you need water for the children then you must order it here!" My husband (and I) were very upset but agreed to remove our water bottles from the restaurant and returned them to the car. We were so shocked by the way we were treated! After Henrik left several other restaurant patrons reached out to us to express their own shock and disappointment in the way we were treated. Like I said earlier we have always really enjoyed cafe frikadellen but after this last experience are hesitant to return.More

Absolutely in love with this place and the people. So far I’ve been here three times and each time the food was amazing. Maybe it’s having to eat bland Ugandan food for the past 5 weeks or it could be missing the food back home...but man does this place hit the spot. Highly recommend the tuna sandwich and the Greek chicken and THEIR CHIPS ARE THE BEST CHIPS I HAVE EVER HAD they definitely beat McDonald’s. the staff is also very welcoming and friendly and the fact that they have some of the best wifi is also a plus.More

Yes, it's second best in Masaka. God food, but it takes long time to get it. You shouldn't miss their Friday Grill Buffé!

Make sure you hit this spot on a friday night for the all you can eat bbq. We called in advance to reserve seating. We also visited thru the week for some muzungu food. Absolutley amazing. The food was wonderful and we never had to...wait. Staff and service was good. They also have a small gift shop and some proceeds go to orphanages. I picked up the most beautiful painting on bark cloth. It's A place to relax unwind and share memories with friends, family and loved ones.More

We went to the barbeque at Friday. Lots of different food. Very friendly service. We also one ordered from the menu card. Also very good - a kind of Danish style. They have a craft shop where very good and quite cheep souveniers are sold....The outcome of all this supports baby- and children’s home in the area of Masaka. Very good.More
