I lived in Nanyuki for 3 months and Dorman's was my escape to enjoy a lovely cappuccino in good company. The prices are comparable to coffeeshops in Montreal ($2-$4) which is higher than other local spots but reasonable considering the quality. There is light fare...as well, including vegetable samosas which are good. The peanut butter smoothies are delicious. Free internet access, nice pastries, and lovely baristas. I exchanged many books in the book exchange shelf, and the bathrooms are clean. No, this is not the authentic Kenyan experience, and does not have authentic Kenyan cuisine. However, if you need a break from the hustle bustle of a busy town with dusty roads, Dorman's can give you some good mindspace.More
Was here for a quick coffee and to pick a parcel for someone. Went inside to the bar to ask if there was a parcel for me. The lady serving was very unfriendly and dismissive. She just told me to "check if its written in...the book" and went back to making a coffee. After checking the book and not finding my name there, she asked if I had found it. I simply told her I couldn't find my name, to which she rudely replied "well if its not in the book then I cant help you", which I found extremely impolite.
Coffee was ok, but I left immediately.More
It's always great to find a good coffee joint outside Nairobi. It's a quaint cafe with freshly brewed coffee and delicious pastries. The service is good and staff very accommodating of families with young children.
