Their staff have been there for many years, sometimes decades and they're a bit quirky in the nicest way.

We were staying in Yosemite and decided to have something to eat at the majestic. This place is wonderfully grand, the standard of service was very high and the food was absolutely lovely. This is a very grand hotel, it did remind me of the hotel in the film the shining (in a good way) though. There is very little... More

We have been celebrating friends and family for years at the Ahwahnee and a highlight has always been our meals taken in the grand dining room. In particular Sunday Brunch. Regardless of the Season the soaring ceiling and amazing vistas viewed through arched picture windows are spectacular. Our Christmas Day brunch was memorable for many reasons but also left a... This restaurant is a really nice spot to relax after being in the park. We came on a snowy day and the views from the windows were beautiful. The food is pricey but good. The portions are a good size and you can't beat the ambiance. The service on this particular visit could have been better but overall it was... More

The capper to our winter Yosemite visits is dinner in the Ahwahnee dining room (still cannot bring myself to call that hotel the Majestic). I usually have the prime rib and that has remained consistently excellent. The appetizers were in need of some help (my chicken liver paté was bland) and the wine steward had trouble opening our bottle of... More

Stopped for lunch and had a 40 minute wait but they operate a buzzer system so you can enjoy the lodge while you're waiting. For was nothing special but we were lucky enough to sit in the top alcove where the celebrities are usually seated (obviously no special was here that day) for a great view of the whole hall... The hotel is beautiful, however the food is only average and it is fairly expensive. Not sure I would go again for the food, but I would certainly visit the hotel just to see it.

We stopped here for lunch as a part of a park tour. The hotel itself-- formerly called Ahwahnee Lodge (legal despite over naming rights)-- is beautiful. The structure opened in 1927. It is worth it to visit to see the architecture and the grand dining hall. The food itself was fine, but we were not exposed to the typical menu.
