We were staying at Old Faithful Inn and wanted to go here for my husband’s birthday dinner. Unfortunately, we were only notified 3 weeks prior to arrival that all the restaurants were still in Phase 1 Covid recovery and doing take out only! Yeah, not...what I had planned! We decided to eat here regardless. We had to stand in line for over an hour in a hot non air conditioned lobby to just place our order. When we got to the register to order, they were out of everything we wanted to order! Even appetizers! Better management would have put the items they were out of on the menu by the beginning of the line! Lack of common sense! After waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes to place our order, we had to wait 30 minutes for our food. Better than the 45 minutes we were quoted. Sadly, we didn’t even get to order what we wanted so it was disappointing.More

The food is pretty good, but that is really hard to tell when it is served in a paper box or plastic tray and must be eaten outside, If you are lucky you can obtain an outside picnic table but there are only 7 or...8 of them. Otherwise, it must be taken back to your room/cabin or eaten on the ground. If you have to return to your room the food is cold and there is no way to warm it up in our room. Pretty bad to pay $80 for food that is eaten cold.More

A little spendy for takeout, I had bison short ribs for $31.95, but everything was takeout in the park due to the pandemic and after very pedestrian fare at the other Upper Geyser Basin eateries I wanted something with a little more flavor and was...willing to pay extra for it. I was not disappointed. As a rule, commodities are overpriced in the park. But when you have a meal like this inside at a table it feels somewhat more reasonably priced. But I took it for what it was and enjoyed it.More

The employees were very persistent in maintaining strict health standards and reminded patrons to social distance and ordering was contact-free. A buzzer was given so you would know when to pick up your food in another location and tables were available outside for seating. We...thoroughly enjoyed trying the local beer, the crispy chicken wings, and waffle cut fries with blue cheese crumbles and bacon on top.More

Had a wonderful take-out meal at end of July. Stood in line on green spots six feet apart, ordered from cashier behind plexiglass, and picked in the Fireside Room. Excellent bison short ribs and sauteed trout with mashed potatoes, sliced summer squash, and salad. Quality...was great!More

The restaurant is busy, so if you want a specific time, you will need to book. There is a big choice on the menu and the servings are plentiful, but the standard of the food is unremarkable and the service can be 'hit & miss'.

We ate at the restaurant a few times whilst we were staying at Old Faithful Snow Lodge both for dinner and for breakfast.. Because this is the only restaurant in the area and the hotel was very busy booking at least a day in advance...is essential as we found out unless you want to eat after 8 pm. The restaurant is open plan and not that large compared to the size of the hotel and to the left of the dining area is the Firehole Bar with its own seating area for bar snacks and drinks. The quality of the food and the service in the Firehole Bar was very good. We tried the duck wontons, Cajun shrimp and hot wings and all were excellent.in the main restaurant we avoided the fish and on our last night I had the bison short ribs whilst my wife chose the duck. Both were very good. The service at dinner was overall pretty good with servers who were friendly , helpful and efficient. Unfortunately the same could not be said of the servers at breakfast time who either seemed officious or too tired. The breakfast were very good and the restaurant offered either an all you could eat buffet with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, French toast, biscuits and gravy and cereals. Toast & juice were ordered from the server or you could order from the extensive breakfast menu. As previous reviewers have commented the food is quite expensive but again bearing in mind where the hotel is and how difficult it is to get food delivered we thought the prices not unreasonable.More

Breakfast - a breakfast buffet was available when the Old Faithful Snow Lodge had a large population a visitors. Using the buffet was a good option especially if you had a morning tour you needed to get off to . The cost was $14.95 not...including tip. It included your beverages plus your standard buffet of scrambled eggs, French toast, yogurt, potatoes, fruit, muffins, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, etc. The food was okay except for one morning when everything was under the heat lamps too long and the food was dried out. The potatoes were inedible. When the number of visitors dropped the buffet was no longer available. We ordered off of the menu. If you like oatmeal, the steel cut oats were delicious. The cooks were off their mark one morning where we had to send several things back to the kitchen. The eggs were overcooked and the French toast was so hard you cannot cut into it. Dinner reservations are required as the only two winter options to eat include the grill or the Obsidian restaurant. Dinner entrees prices are high ranging from $20 to $30+. Service was very good. It was always interesting to talk to the seasonal servers to find out where they were from and why they were working in Yellowstone. Most did a very good job.More

As part of a tour, the food was very good. We had vouchers for a four course meal every night. The food was creative, tasty, and we had lots of choices. Considering the issues with getting food to this remote location, the issues with getting...people to cook, serve and clean, the service and food were very good. One complaint, things were not served very warm. This may be in part because of the elevation. Water boils at a much lower temperature, but use of heat lamps to stage may help. Our service was always good.More

We stayed at Old Faithful lodge over winter, which is an amazing experience. For the price we paid to get here via snow coach, and then the stay at the lodge, we expected quality food - also the high price of the food should provide...better quality. The food here is terrible, and expensive. We paid $100 for a nearly inedible dinner. Bland, tough bison spare ribs. Cold, over-cooked veggies. The past dish was bland, and un-remarkable. We thought we would give them a try for breakfast. Same deal. The breakfast potatoes were raw and cold. I understand the challenge of operating a restaurant in a remote location. The management should consider offering a much smaller menu, and do those things well. The NPS should do a review of these offerings. A smaller menu would also have a smaller environment footprint too. I would bring my own food if I did this trip again. Or just eat at the cafeteria-the burger and fries were fine there.More
