For me there has to be a wow factor involved in a 5 star review, The Maple Counter just didn't get there for us. Service was attentive, food good, restaurant clean, pricing was on the high side of my thinking which impacted my perception of value. Would I go back? Probably not, I will keep searching to be wowed.

ordered asparagus breakfast scramble which was absolutely delicious, served hot and promptly after ordering. local asparagus was cooked to perfection and eggs, bacon and sharp cheddar cheese were the perfect combination. buttermilk pancakes served with scramble were hot, light, not too sweet and perfectly cooked. Fried potatoes were crispy and also cooked perfectly. Cappuccino was smooth and delicious but a bit pricey. Espresso was also very good but on the pricey side. Overall, excellent place for breakfast not to be missed anytime you're passing through or nearby.

The Maple Counter Cafe is a treasure in Walla Walla. My wife and I were impressed by the size and quality of the French style omelets which are finished in the oven to yield a fluffy soufflé texture. I had the eggs Nicole with mushrooms, onions and perhaps a pound of fresh spinach. The next day, my wife had the Dubliner omelet filled with corned beef and Swiss cheese. The Swedish pancakes were perfect, thin, and 12 inches in diameter. Even simple items such as the thick cut bread, homemade fruit jams, and the coffee (served with heavy cream) were thoughtful and well prepared. highly recommended.

We usually like Maple Counter. They usually seem to have their stuff together. But having the special "Elvis Pancakes" made me change my mind. Don't get me wrong. I like pancakes and love bacon, bananas and peanut butter. In fact, I actually thought this was going to be good. It wasn't. Not only no but YUCK no! My pancakes were raw wherever the banana was. The peanut butter was in the form of a topping/syrup. There was something amiss with it. I really wanted regular maple syrup to go with it but the server decided talking to the women near us (likely a former employee) was more important than the paying public. Anyway... this pancake was not good. Personally, I would have put the bacon bits in the pancake batter to "corral" them instead of them being scattered all over the place. Next, the banana slices should have been on top the pancakes. The peanut butter just should have been that. Regular peanut butter. It shouldn't been been cut down. Just use dabs of it so we could have mixed it with the maple syrup ourselves. As is, I wouldn't recommend this dish to anyone; not even Elvis.

Hello Eastern WA_Pirate, Thank you for your review. We apologize you did not like the Elvis Pancakes. As the menu states, we bake the bacon bits and bananas into the pancakes on the griddle and serve them with a homemade Peanut Butter Syrup. We are always happy to make modifications, and would have happily made the pancakes differently, and with a side of peanut butter instead of our peanut butter syrup. That aside, it sounds like we made the mistake of not cooking the pancakes correctly and also not being available when you were needing our service, and for that we also apologize. We do our best to check in with our tables regularly throughout the meal, and it sounds like we really dropped the ball. I hope you will give us another opportunity to turn your experience around serve you again in the future. If so, please mention your experience so that we can send you out a different type of pancake on us to make up for this disappointing experience. Thank you again, and we hope to earn back your patronage in time. Sincerely, Rachel Nagler, owner

Finally! The Governor has allowed restaurants to open to guests with a huge list of stipulations FIRST - This restaurant and every other needs our support! Having spent many, many years cooking on the line and eventually running restaurants, I sympathize with every employee and all the owners. Thank you for opening again. We missed you I had been dying for the Blueberry Cobbler French Toast. I didn't need a menu to order from. Just "Gimme!, PLEASE and thank you". And coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. My darling spouse ordered a couple eggs scrambled, an order of bacon and a mocha (I think). We chatted. I watched the front of the house clean and sanitize everything over and over. They weren't fooling. I felt for them yet I was proud of them. They were back to work. The food came out rather quickly. Our server refilled my coffee and double checked us as she headed for her next take. I was a very happy camper. My mood was lifted from the COVID Doldrums. My thanks to each and every person on the floor, in the back of the house and in the office. Thank you SO much for hanging in there. We needed you. We missed you.

I'm a big fan of breakfast. I'm a bigger fan of breakfast that I don't have to cook. Maple Counter has solved that problem for me, especially with their Blueberry Cobbler French Toast. I came across this one morning prior to COVID when my wife and I were in for breakfast. This has a good sized helping of homemade granola, large blueberries, blueberry syrup and a very tasty French toast. To say I like this would be an under statement. With one exception for the pancake version, I haven't changed my order in more than six months. It's that good. The other thing I like about Maple Counter is the servers with coffee aren't just taking care of their tables. If you've got an empty, or near empty cup, it won't be for long. For breakfast in a town that puts on good, nay great, breakfasts, this restaurant consistantly and constantly shows why they are the favorite of both locals and visitors alike.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and walked to the Maple Counter Cafe for a weekday breakfast, arriving around 8:30am. There was not a wait and we sat at an outdoor table, enjoying a beautiful morning. The cafe has a huge menu with a large variety of pancakes and egg dishes. If you’re looking for a healthy breakfast full of vegetables, this is not the spot to go. If you’re looking for a huge American breakfast, you’ll definitely find something on the menu. The short stack of pancakes (we got the simple version: butter and maple syrup) was delicious—the pancakes were fluffy, warm, and flavorful. An eggs Benedict with avocado and tomato was also excellent, with perfectly cooked eggs and a side of very delicious breakfast potatoes with great texture. Service was competent and friendly. And the coffee was good! Solid option for breakfast in Walla Walla.

Extensive menu, food beautifully prepared. There's usually a 30-45 minute wait on the weekends for breakfast. But they will text you when your table is ready so you can take a walk around downtown Walla Walla. Worth the wait!

The owners are third generation restauranteurs and it shows. It all began with Grandma’s restaurant in Chicago 35 years ago where handcrafting breakfast and lunches became a family tradition. Parents settled in Sequim, WA and own the Oak Table cafe. While I’ve never been I’ll be willing to bet big bucks it’s amazing. The three kids now each own a restaurant so the tradition continues. But I’ve digressed. Let’s get back to why you MUST visit this restaurant!! The menu is vast and offers something for everyone. The ingredients are FRESH and everything is locally sourced. Sauces and mixes are handmade and it shows. The sourdough pancakes are simply amazing and melt in your mouth. The maple syrup is warm and is pure …nothing artificial. Omelettes are done in the French style (channel your inner Julia Child) and looked amazing. Eggs are basted in clarified butter, not fried. How many breakfast joints even know what clarified butter is?? We split the Homestead Benedict which had whole wheat English muffin, country sausage, poached egg and the most incredible mushroom bechemal sauce that has ever passed my lips!!! The sausage had a nice peppery spice that lingered just the right amount of time on your palate. We practically licked the plate clean and then came close to eating all of the sourdough pancakes that were some of the best I’ve ever had. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had. Perfect base for a day full of wine tasting! Enjoy Oh….the waitstaff is amazing. There was a full team of gals who hustled to take care of everyone. You may have to wait when it is busy but a) the food is worth waiting for and b) there are no slackers on the team so they will get to you as quickly as they can!!

Large, popular diner. crowded, a bit of a wait on a Saturday morning. Over was ok, but I had the corned beef hash and was disappointed that it didn't have a lot of flavor. The meat especially was pretty bland, but overall I'd say the dish lacked seasoning. Good, friendly staff.

We were visiting in Walla Walla, WA and had full intentions of going to Bacon and Eggs which was very good in the past. Bacon and Eggs was closed so we found Maple Counter cafe. It was not a disappointment! The food was delicious. The service was great. Come hungry as the portion sizes are big. Because of Covid , places here are closed either Sunday-Monday or Tuesday-Wednesday. Thank God Maple Counter was open because we were really hungry. I had the typical bacon, egg and potato breakfast. My husband had the Trio. We will definitely come back when we are in Walla Walla!

My previous review of this facility was less than stellar. I really felt let down. However, a visit a week ago and again today changed my mind and needs to clear the air. I'm a French toast eater. I love the stuff. When I happened on the blueberry granola French toast, I was ecstatic. The first time I had it I pronounced it the best French toast I've ever tasted. The blueberries alone were worth the price of the meal. These berries resembled marbles in size. My wife thought them to be olives. They were huge! Today I found out one thing more that I was unaware of from the previous meal. They SHOULD bring a blueberry syrup to the table with the meal. I did not receive that the first time. This stuff is awesome! Here's another tip we were unaware of, veterans get a discount. Nobody will tell you that and you won't see it on their menu. At least I didn't. I only found out from a gent sitting at the table next to us. To think, all the times I've been and not been aware of this fact.

Restaurant is opened with sensible social distancing amongst tables and we scanned a code and review menu on our personal phones. It was great and no stress. We had a wonderful brunch experience while visiting Walla Walla. The restaurant is clean, servers are friendly and attentive and food was to die for! If we ever visit the area again, we will go back.

My husband and I generally don't eat at "classic breakfast places, like this." However, we had skipped dinner the night before because we got into town super late and we woke up early for a walk. Towards the end of our walk, we walked past the Maple Counter. The name sounded familiar as I had heard it was amazing. Cute patio so we sat down. The food was delicious! Very accommodating for customizing orders, hashbrowns were delicious. Daisy our waitress was a doll. Portions were ginormous, you could easily share and have enough even for big eaters.

We had a meal here last week. First off, thank you for being open! My partner had corned beef hash and eggs. All of the eggs are cooked basted, and if you don't like them that way, tough luck. I had salmon chowder, which was tasty though kind of not warm by the time it got to me. Service was spotty, however given all the restrictions and adaptations in effect, understandable. My partner took half of his meal to go, it was that much food. The flavor of the corned beef was exceptionally good.

Hi there, thank you for visiting us, and also for your review! Thank you for sharing with us about your soup not being hot enough--we will definitely pass this onto the kitchen. As for egg preparation, we do state on the menu that the eggs come basted, however we are always happy to accommodate any preparation! We do basted, scrambled, poached, over hard--all options! Thank you again for dining with us and we hope to see you again!
