Baking powder biscuits just like Daddy used to make (only smaller). The split pea soup was fabulous and their fruit and lettuce salad yummy!

We found Main Street Market Cafe on the Internet. It is quaint, with terrific service, and great food. Take the time to get off the main areas and experience a local restaurant with great dishes.

Primarily open for lunch only this little eight table gem is decorated in very funcky decor. A chair hanging on the wall over the mantel. We were steered here by our guide at the Vicksburg Battle Park. He is a life long resident and a regular. Known for its burgers, I had the shrimp, andoulle sausage and rice gumbo and... More

If you are in Vicksburg, this restaurant is worth you trying out. We there on a Monday night, which was the only night they serve dinner. The other days are just lunch. The food was very good and the staff was very nice. It is a good place to take your wife or date as it is very small and... More

My most favorite is the hamburger. Best hamburger in the south. Come see. Main Street Market Café sits in the oldest neighborhood in Vicksburg. The original structure dates to 1840. It now has brick floors that were installed at the turn of the century. Across the street is the George Washington Ball House, the oldest in the neighborhood, and owned... More

Main St Market has exceptionally good food. Lunch menu has a great variety and flavor is wonderful. Service is what you'd expect from a local, long term establishment - outstanding. Value is great for what you get too. A definite spot to return to next time I'm in town.

This place is small and had a "grandma's kitchen" kind of feel, lots of noise and mismatched furniture. We enjoyed the gumbo and the day's special, chicken creole. Home cooking, not fancy, but fresh and flavorful. Friendly staff, good service, save room for pie!
