It was a dark and stormy night (it actually was) and because it was, there was no line of diners waiting to get in even though it was a Friday night. We were in town for one night and walked over from our hotel to have dinner at Shokudo. We were seated fairly quickly, although our table wasn't in the best of spots, right next to where the orders go in and the food comes out from the kitchen. We ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Quesadilla, Hibachi Teriyaki Salmon, and Homemade Tofu Salad. The Quesadilla and Salmon came out quickly but we had to ask about the Tofu Salad later as it still hadn't come out about ten minutes after the first items did. We loved the Quesadilla so much we've tried to recreate it at home. The Salmon was cooked perfectly and the Tofu Salad was delicious. We ordered too much so we couldn't finish it all and once again, no room for the honey toast! Oh well, next time!

I have passed by this place for many years and now they moved to the other side of the building to what appears to be a smaller location, but there is still plenty of room to handle a good capacity of dinners. Shokudo is comfortable and has lots of great natural lighting from their high ceilings and big windows. What really stands out for me with this place, is even though it is a casual dinning restaurant they were very well staffed and had supper friendly as well as attentive staff working there. That is a real rarity these days.
They have a wide variety of Japanese favorites on their menu. If your are there for just drinks and appetizers or a full meal, it's there. Everything from sushi or sashimi, hot and cold pupus, to rice or noodle entrees, and even bento mix and match options.
We were there for lunch are weren't really hungry, so we stuck to the classic California Roll, Hamachi Carpaccio, Salmon Sashimi, and Miso soup. All were very good and hit the spot. I did look around at other table and saw more from their menu that all looked very appealing, so we will have to go back to try more!

My wife and I agreed to try a variety of Asian restaurants while in Honolulu. So on this occasion we decided to do Japanese. we were accompanied by Our two granddaughters, which one is a chef. We tried every type of sushi and even some Sake. The fish was very fresh and presentation was very creative. Service was a bit
slow but friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was casual and a little noisy. I guess this works out for the younger crowd. Parking was a problem since this place is located on the Boulevard. Prices were somewhat steep for this level of establishment.

Waited more than 1 hour outside , there were plenty available tables inside they said only 1 server available. Tip is mandatory 18 percent automatically charge on the bill. They dont even deserve to get tip with that kind of service!

Nice atmosphere (high ceilings, clean, well-lit) and close to Ala Moana Mall. Good quality but on expensive side. Server Lauryn was sweet; hostess was not. They offer real menus (phew!) and ones that can be uploaded to your device after scanning the QR code. Complimentary parking. Popular place and recommend reservations if you plan to dine there after 6pm. You go there for the honey toast dessert. It was very warm inside and their portable air conditioner was just blasting warm air into the restaurant. Room for improvement for a better dining experience.

**DRINKS REVIEW ONLY**
I think I've dined at this restaurant 10 years ago and remember it being good. But this time, we didn't order any food. We had some time to kill before an early dinner so we decided to stop by and order a few drinks. We sat at the bar and due to Covid, they've gotten rid of their reusable menus, which I really appreciate. All you need to do is scan the QR, order, and you can even close out your bill. Then they'll bring you your drinks, which came out pretty quickly. It was also a Thursday at around 3 so it was a weird time. Not sure how everything would be during say a Friday/Saturday night.
There was nothing particularly noteworthy about the drinks but just the ease/efficiency of the whole ordering system calls for 4 stars. Plus our bartender was really nice.
Overall, it was a good experience.

This was our first time at this restaurant and we were very happy. The food came out very quickly and was prepared very well. The prices are also very budget friendly with most dinners under $20. We will return next time we are in the area.

My friends and I decided to have Ramen yesterday for lunch. Found a restaurant in Banawe named Shokudo. Nice decor, nice food, affordable price. Highly recommended.

The service was ok. Then length of time it took to get the food was a problem. My food came out first then 20 minutes later, my friends food came out.

Back around 2006 up until three years ago (2016) Shokudo was fantastic- delicious Japanese fusion and great service.
We went back this week for dinner, food was average and service quite terrible. We queued for 45 min, waitstaff forgot about us and gave our table to another family, didn't even apologize. Our actual waitress was nice although not overly helpful.
Food quality definitely is average if not below average.

I found this place on Instagram and was super excited to come and get some sushi! All there photos looked amazing and I’d picked everything I wanted already based from their posts online only to find out they actually have minimal sushi options and don’t let you create your own.... So, I asked the waitress why I couldn’t find a specific roll on their menu that they posted online, she said “that roll is old” (the image of said roll was only posted 4 days ago) it makes me so mad when restaurants post photos of food they don’t serve online! Because some people travel to try exactly what they’re posting!
So, let’s talk about the food, atmosphere and service!
Service: was fairly quick and attentive
Atmosphere: dead, not high class as presumed but that’s just Hawai’i for you.
Food: Not impressed with a place that serves $15 sushi roles and has 2cent chop sticks to go with it. We ordered the crab roll, it was very small, thought it would be larger, thicker pieces. Flavour was okay.
Next up was the teriyaki chicken bento box, it was super good, taste was amazing.
Lastly was the mermaid roll without spicy tuna, it was also amazing! Super good taste.

Large numbers from our convention found their way here for lunch, causing some service issues.
My Ramen bowl was great, the Udon a bit overcooked, and the service uneven. Nice atmosphere in the place, and overall reasonably priced.
