Japanese style dining with a twist!

Venue is very open and welcoming as the bar is directly in front of the entrance and the main dining is to the right and tiered dining is to the left. We ate in the main dining area where there are both tables and booths. The white chairs keep the area bright and comfortable. Food was a mixture... read more

Whatever I've ordered here has always been fabulous! I need to come more often! The sushi is great. Tonight I ordered something I wouldn't ordinarily get which was the misoyaki salmon. I have to say it was the best salmon I ever had!! It was baked with a miso, ginger and garlic marinade. Unreal!! The lobster dynamite sushi is amazing... More

Japanese style restaurant with many many options to choose. Food was very solid and the waitstaff were attentive but not overly intrusive. We had a party of five and everyone was satisfied with their food choices including, sashimi, sushi, rice bowls, ramen, lobster and fish. Good option within Waikiki. Don't let the front facade fool you - it is solid.

NOTE: This review is for their late night happy hour! I've always loved coming to Shokudo for dinner but it can be bit pricy. Their happy hours are the right price and everything is delicious! I've come here a handful of times for their late night happy hour! It's perfect for coming after a concert, play, etc. This past Sunday... More

This restaurant was close to our hotel, just west of Waikiki, It had great curb appeal but wasn't our first choice for sushi because of other reviews we read. However, we tried to get into two other restaurants in the area, but they had long waits so we settled on Shokudo. A gentleman was waiting to open the door for... More

We brought a large group of 12 and we love the food. The waitress splashed hot oil on my son's shirt, neck & arm while serving a hot rice dish. She apologized but she should have known hot oil splatters when you drop a bowl of rice into it! The lines are long so always make reservations!

We have eaten at Shokudo numerous times. It's a bit of a go-to spot for us when we want Japanese food. This restaurant is good for having numerous choices for everyone in the group. There is sushi, sashimi and various other "usual' Japanese dishes. One can find tempura, katsu and teriyaki chicken but there are also some fun additions with... More

While at a conference in Honolulu we were looking for reasonably priced places to eat that also have good vegetarian options. This restaurant is Japanese fusion with very tasty options. Service and friendliness was outstanding and we were so impressed after our first visit that we returned for another. The space can be noisy but the staff accommodated my request... More

We went here for one reason and it was the honey toast. We ate lunch there and it was fantastic. The drinks were unique and tasty. But the honey toast. The honey toast was amazing. Even if you don't have a full meal there, go for the honey toast, but the food is delicious too and the service is great!
