We went to Shokudo for lunch with a friend and our waiter, Bob, was very knowledgeable and helped us pick a good variety of plates to share. We had the tofu salad, lobster (california) roll, spicy tuna roll and unagi hot pot. Everything tasted great - they make their own tofu in-house for the salad. We got the unagi hot... More

This is a popular restaurant and there were a number of people waiting for tables. This is usually a good sign and proved to be true for Shokudo. The wait for a table was only 15 minutes and it was well worth the wait. Our waiter was really helpful in giving advice about the food and he had really nice... More

Located on the north side of Ala Moana, it's easy to get to. Lots of structured parking right next door on Kapiolani too. We were part of a large group that provided an opportunity to sample many menu items, which were all excellent. Many of the dishes were old standards, but prepared with new, creative techniques that made the evening... More

Couldn't recommend this restaurant enough! My family & I actually ended up visiting twice during our stay in Hawaii because we enjoyed it so much. The service is speedy & friendly while the food offers both authentic and westernised Japanese food. Their hot bowl garlic rice is a MUST try!

This was by far the most affordable meal we ate in Honolulu, and one of the tastiest. Delicious gyoza, udon bowls, and sushi (even the non-sushi fans on our group--myself included--enjoyed the sushi).

This restaurant is beautifully appointed. It is glamorous without being intimidating. The food is excellent! It's not cheap but it's not too expensive for what you get. We love it & this is our third visit. We will be back again next trip.

Food is good, prices ok, but parking is inconvenient as you have to park in the parking lot and then walk to the restaurant. Some food items are really good, but some should be replaced by better menu items.

And interesting blend of traditional and fusion Japanese food. Sushi was priced a bit higher than average but fish portions were quite generous and very fresh (2 bite sushi). Hamachi carpaccio was very good as well as the pork chop and grilled fish. My favourite item - grilled mozzarella covered mochi in a butter shoyu sauce. Wow. And everyone (except... More

What a great spot! We were intrigued by the description of it and by the name: dining room. Everything about it was delightful, from the super friendly and helpful staff, to the delicious home made tofu dishes (and everything else) to the vibe that was open and welcoming. Families were celebrating birthdays and young couples were there for date night.... More
