Delicious as always. Really hits close to home. For those wanting to alleviate your daily stress and pamper yourself with authentic Japanese food, call in and order takeout from Gaku!

Great find. Good variety of small plates...and they are small plates. But that’s ok because that allowed us to try a lot of different things. Only slight disappointment was the tuna sashimi special at$23. 4 pieces and not worth it. Small parking lot available right...next doorMore

Gaku is an intimate and authentic Japanese restaurant. Our party of five dined in high style sampling a significant portion of the menu. Everything was phenomenal except the ribeye. Sushi- all of the sushi we tried was excellent. Particularly outstanding was the lightly seared halibut....Poke- great poke with quail egg. Pickled veggies- so tasty Steak- very dry and disappointing Stingray- dried stingray was fantastic, like a fish jerky that was perfect with an Asahi Egg appetizer- nicely prepared egg Service: Good service Overall cleanliness: above average Bathroom cleanliness: average Ambiance: quaint, boutique JapaneseMore

A Japanese Isakaya is like a trattoria in Italy. Isakaya Gaku is the best Japanese restaurant in Hawaii . . . everything is super fresh. Some fish is even imported directly from Japan. Sashimi such as needlefish, octopus, sea urchin, horse mackerel, and local ahi...or ono. My favorite dish is the tartare of yellowtail with a quail egg. The best seats are at the sushi bar. When visiting Oahu, this place is not to be missed (ne reservations after 7:00 pm)More

A very popular place so I recommend that you make a reservation beforehand. Really enjoyed the Negitoro Tartare (with masago, ponzu, green onions and a quail egg. Also enjoyed the house made Tofu.

I’ve heard about this place for a while but could not get a reservation for whatever reason. Finally went and it did not disappoint. Great ambiance. The yellowtail tartare was delicious. All the sushi was delicious and fresh. The sushi rice was incredible and not...too much. The sushi chefs were friendly and animated. They also had great recommendations. Sit at the bar for sure if you like that sort of thing.More

Really enjoyed shukuu's thick and smooth salmon sashimi! In general I felt the food was a little pricey for the portion given, other than that the quality of the food was top notch
