When i reserved at this hotel it was for the location but going back I will be staying there again. Really good location, service, view, etc.

If you like to shop, this is the place for you! Shopping, dining and entertainment are all within walking distance.

I came for a convention here and it's Hawaii (hello - who wants to stay indoors?!) - so the look of the room wasn't really a priority. It was clean enough so the housekeeping staff was doing their job. But other than that everything was...just kind of... meh. The front desk seemed woefully understaffed, the cafe was WAY too overpriced for what you got (especially that breakfast buffet - my god), and everywhere else we went on the island people seemed so much more friendly and approachable. The pool area was kinda sad (the towel guy was very friendly) and the restaurant had nice views and efficient staff. But again - something just seemed lacking. Some degree of effort of charm that the rest of the island had in spades but this place just... didn't. Also - bit of a walk to the beach. Wear comfy shoes.More

This is a massive property attached to Ala Moana mall, so I was iffy before going in, and my low expectations were met. Decent view from the room, but nothing else good to note. Scratchy sheets, incredibly slow elevators (despite there being 6 of them),...showers/tubs that don’t drain at all, and rude staff. Honolulu is a cool city with gorgeous beaches and tons of hotels — but I’d avoid this one.More

Our stay at the Ala Moana was the only disappointment of our 10 year anniversary vacation. We booked a king with a mountain view through our travel agent (paying extra for both). We're shown to a queen room with no view when we got there....We called to ask what was going on, and they acted confused that we wanted what we paid for, but eventually changed our room. Our travel agent also asked if we got the flowers she'd paid to send us. Nope. I kept calling down to the front desk to ask about it. Travel agent checked with the florist and they said they'd been sent. They also never brought the correct sheets for the bed in our new king room (that WAS available at check in and did have a mountain view). They kept ripping the queen fitted sheets to fit the bed and the flat sheet was always too small. Further, when our key stopped working suddenly halfway through our stay, the staff got annoyed with us instead of just issuing new keys. They almost made us late for an event later that night that we'd booked. We found out on check out that our flowers WERE delivered, only to our original room and they never thought to redeliver them to the room we actually booked. The events planner at the hotel was wonderful and we did like the proximity to a public beach and the mall with a million yummy restaurants. But if we ever went back to Oahu, we'd still probably avoid the Ala Moana.More

We stayed at the Ala Moana for a couple of nights before our cruise of the other Hawaiian islands and a night at the end. It is clean and fairly basic, but very handy to the Ala Moana shopping centre. The staff at reception were...very helpful. There was a counter where you could book day tours, Half day tours and smaller trips. We were originally promised a mountain view room, but because we arrived early got a room with the view of a car park. On our return, we did have a mountain view room as promised. The plantation cafe offers a buffet breakfast which is quite good.More

I was here earlier this spring (the entire month of April) and I was treated well. My room was cleaned daily, everything always left neat. No bugs or other issues to worry about. I loved my view and I was delighted to come back here....I have the same service this time. Love this place.More
