We are repeated guests at this amazing restaurant,we simply adore its informal yet posh setting, with spectacular Diamond Head as backdrop and the giant tree, where some former Miss Hawaii continue to enchant guests with their gentle hula moves. To myself and hubby every trip to Hawai’i...isn’t perfect until we spend a magic evening at House without a key. In February we had a delicious meal by the sea, with the usual yet INCREDIBLE SUNSET, while a lovely Miss Hawai’i was performing a few hula dances, with graceful hand and foot movements,to tell everlasting stories of love and nostalgia. My husband loved also their Bolognaise spaghetti and I enjoyed my “ono” catch of the day, with sauteed vegetables. The signature Halekulani Coconut cake is a must for us,but on this visit we were surprised by our outstanding waiter (sorry, can’t remember his name): with a large smile, he presented us with our favorite dessert as “gift from the House”, having overheard our conversation about the fact that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary!! Everything at House Without a Key is ALWAYS PERFECT,we both can’t wait to be back for another awesome evening!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDEDMore

We had our first dinner is Honolulu at this lovely location. At first, our table choices were not very good, even with a reservation, however that was quickly rectified! Music was playing and dancers were dancing, the tiki torches we alight and the food was...delicious! It did start to gently rain, but gratefully we were under cover and it did not deter the entertainment one bit. I had the most delightful lobster tacos and my husband had the fresh catch of the day. We also shared a yummy fresh tuna poke to start....oh YUM! Go a little early to make sure you get the table you desire and to see the sunset.More

The soup special of the day happened to be onion soup, one of my favorites, so even though I started with a Mai Tai, I had the soup. So glad I did, because it was one of the best onion soups I've ever had! This...restaurant is an indoor/outdoor terrace restaurant at the Halekulani. Right on the beach with a view to Diamond Head.More

Restaurant is located at the Halekulani hotel. It gets crowded but we were seated within a few minutes. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The salmon was fresh and cooked to perfection wow!!!! The braised short ribs were so delicious too!!! Live band was...playing during the meal and views of the ocean is a plus. Overall thumbs up for the ambience, service and food. Highly recommended!!!!More

Went there for the Keone Miller Hula show. Such grace and poise, a piece of history as her show has been a staple for many years. Good appetizers drinks. Sit so the sunset doesn’t blind you.

We’ve been celebrating special family occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. at House Without a Key for 50 years and this is the first time I’ve been truly disappointed. I expect to pay well for outstanding food, superb service and terrific local music/entertainment. Last Sunday we didn’t...get any of those. My meal (a local seafood stew @ $55), was served barely luke-warm, the miniscule seafood morsels were over-cooked and the broth watery and without flavor. It was a disaster! The service was slow and overly-familiar and the entertainment was the worst of phony tourist crap. Nothing a kama’aina could enjoy. To add insult to injury, after the meal our two guests each ordered a cup of regular tea , nothing special, and I was charged $9 for each one. $18 for 2 cups of Lipton tea? Are you kidding me? Total bill for 4? $385! I felt abused and unappreciated and I will not ever go back. Another Honolulu landmark gone to hell.More

Please book early if you want to visit this place, quite hard to book around dinner time as they have live music performance from 5.30-8.30pm. Ambience is great with hawaiian music as background, direct breeze from sea, very friendly and efficient waiters and they give...free coconut cake if you're celebrating honeymoon / anniversary there! Only down side is the food is just average, bit disappointed considering the fact that it is always fully booked!More

My wife and I stayed at the Halekulani using the AMEX Fine Hotels promotion which included free breakfast. The House without a Key buffet is excellent! It combines rotating Asian and traditional breakfast foods which will satisfy almost anyone. If you just want boxed cereal,...yogurt, or oatmeal - you will find it. Bacon, sausage, waffles, made to order omelettes - all there. Wonderful selection of fruit. We have traveled throughout Europe, America, and Japan enjoying many of the complementary breakfasts included in hotel stays. The Halekulani House Without a Key is the best I have seen. I think it is $40 per person if you don't have a breakfast package, and compared to others I have seen, I think it is well worth it.More

We enjoyed a very early dinner/late lunch out on the lanai and there was no mention of happy hour specials. We weren't indulging in alcohol anyway.
