The restaurant atmosphere and decor was excellent. The ceiling was intricately painted as a sky them and was very interesting. The waiter was very prompt and service was good. I was a little disappointed that there were no mix drinks available at the time we...ate (lunch). Only beer and wine were available. The food was good but not overly impressive for what you are paying for. Keep in mind that my opinion is based on a "wagyu steak" that I specifically ordered and a ahi tuna salad that my son ordered.More

Don't let the entrance from the underground carpark of the Ala Moana Centre put you off. this is one beautiful restaurant in every sense of the word. The silver service we received from our attentive, professional and knowledgable wait staff was superb. When the food...arrived it tantalised both the eye and the taste buds. Complementary wines finished off a memorable evening.More

The onion soup and prosciutto and arugula pizza are excellent. The mocha tiramisu is too exotic for my tastes.

Vintage Cave Cafe is an Italian restaurant located in Ala Moana Shopping Centre, Ewa Wing. The entrance is on the street level. My wife and I were there for dinner with another couple. We were greeted warmly at the reception and were escorted to the...main dining area which is large with tables nicely spaced. The painted ceiling with a sizeable chandelier in the middle looks impressive, however, the huge mural on the wall facing out and the statues on the floor worsened the pleasant outlook of the room. Three set menus were offered at special prices and we picked the one with five courses - appetizer, soup, pasta, main course and desert. For the main course, there was a choice of lamb or fish. All the dishes were well prepared, cooked and presented. It was excellent value at the 50% discounted price of $44 each. The wine menu was extensive offering a great numbers of quality wines, wines by the glasses were also available. With the exception of the live performance making too loud noises, it was a comfortable place for fine wining and dining at very reasonable prices.More

Pleasantly surprised by Vintage Cave Cafe. The food is exceptional. They do have an extensive vegetarian menu upon request for those who find eating baby animals to be distasteful. The service is outstanding. Im not sure what those who have negative comments are complaining about.

Met a couple of friends who are into afternoon tea. The price was reasonable for $18 for tea or coffee, mini antipasto, sandwich selection and dessert selection. their tea selection as very good and extensive. the mini antipasto was very tiny-3 piece of fruit (1...blueberry, 1 blackberry and 1 strawberry). then we were serve a prosciutto crostini which was delicious. sandwich selection was either smoked salmon, jidori chicken or portabello mushroom. the portabello mushroom sandwich was good but the zucchini overpowered the mushroom flavor. the jidori club was tasty except very little chicken. the dessert cart was great. there were a couple of chocolate choices, a strawberry cake and yuzu cheesecake which I selected. it was light and airy. scones were very dry but the homemade jelly was tasty.More

The Italian almond tea was amazing, the sandwiches and other treats were delicious and the decor/atmosphere was extremely classy. The servers were also very professional and efficient. Just as classy as our dinners at Vintage Cave club. Definitely on my frequent tearoom list!

An $18 afternoon tea with all 3 tiers full of goodies is an unheard bargain at Ala Moana Shopping Center. Select your tea from many lovely options described on the menu. Select your dessert from the cake cart; hard to choose just one when they...all look so scrumptious. Select your sandwich from 3 choices on the menu; wish we could have each to sample. Sit back and relax; it takes a while for your 3 tiers of dessert, scone, sandwich and more to be served. Nice local touch with the mango preserves served with the scone. Toasted bread for the sandwich was unexpected; I think untoasted bread is a better, less crumbly tea option. Muzak was contemporary. Atmosphere was relaxing; loud volume of conversations was disconcerting. Lovely way to spend an afternoon while shopping at the largest mall in Hawaii.More

We went with another couple for a nice relaxing dinner. Brought two bottles from our personal wine stash and paid the corkage but it was worth it to enjoy great wine in a nice setting with friends. Wives had the "A" menu with pork and...husbands had the "B" menu with the rack of lamb. In my opinion: 1. Service was excellent. 2. Food courses tasted good. But don't expect to leave full. The rack of lamb entree had only two bones, more like an appetizer. But tasted great. 3. Its is a rather large dining area so there is good spacing between tables, but the ambiance felt a bit "cold". In other words, its the opposite of the warmth of grandma's house for dinner. I think we would try this place again, but if the prices were not half off as it was this month, it would not be worth it.More

Very difficult to find unless you know how to drive bottom parking-levels of AlaMoana Shopping enter. Think street level Ala Moana Shopping Center under the Mall access and on the end toward the Airport. The Restaurant has a certain panache upscale feel....and local families love...it for special dinner celebrations. They have reservable private alcoves if you want it more grandois. The food is excellent with fresh baked hot bread during the meal. Reservations—advised-unless you show up as they open. We went on a weekday and ate our whole meal before people started coming in 6 to 7ish. Servers were considerate and kind. Positive: Really Nice Place to dine. Negative: Slowest Service we have encountered in a long time....even when we were their only customer. Otherwise I would have rated them a Solid Four.More

The newspaper ad run by the Vintage Cave Cafe last month was big and bold: 50% OFF--Italian Gourmet Fair! It got my attention. We were entertaining a good friend and we made reservations to try out the three "Speciale" offerings that had to be fairly...incredible-- from $29 to $44 and $64 (after a 50% discount). There are two seatings, one from 5:30 to 7:45 pm, the other from 8:00-10:30 p.m. We had eaten there once before, but not at these new promo prices. The Vintage Cave Cafe is located on the ground floor of the Ala Moana Shopping Center in between the Shirokiya restaurants and the Old Navy store. An unlikely place to find a cavernous (9000 sq. ft) fine dining room reminiscent of classic nouveau Italian or Spanish art, walls of brick, Las Vegas style mega murals and glittering chandeliers. The spacious and somewhat intimidating decor can be intimidating to the first time diner, with stone sculptures and paintings lining "cathedral like" dining room and alcoves with leather trimmed chairs and a large display of wines. A youthful service staff is more casual, but eager and well meaning, and there is a pianist-vocalist and accompanist situated mid-dining room playing modern jazz music. The menus offer what I thought were excellent choices: Speciale-A for $58.00 less 50%: Antipasto Caprese di Amera Tomato, Soup: Onion Soup with Grana Padano Cheese, Main: Jidori Chicken Or Milano style Veal Cutlet, and Dolce: Panna Cotta with lilikoi sauce. Speciale-B for $88 less 50%: WagyuBeef Carpaccio Tonnato Sauce, Soup: Onion Soup as above; Pasta: Gamberi Rossi (Shrimp in linguine with special sauce; Main: Rack of Lamb with peppercorn sauce; or Sautéed Local Fish (6 oz) and Vintage Cave Tiramisu. Speciale -C: Chicken Pate bruschetta with blueberry sauce, Antipasto: Smoked salmon salad with Ossetra Caviar; Lobster Lemon Cream soup; Pasta: fettuccine with truffle cream sauce; Main: Wagyu Striploin Tagliata with mushroom marsala sauce, Or VCCafe Signature Cartoccio-Style Braised Beef ragout in wine and balsamic vinegar. Cake Cart-choice of desserts on a dessert cart. The food was in my opinion a great value; well prepared and full of flavors as described. The prices at 50% off do not betray the quality and serving sizes, which are hard to match in any fine dining restaurant in Honolulu. Remember however that these discounts run only until OCT. 31, 2018!!! The servers though young are gaining terrific experience in fine dining service. There is only one objection we made -- that the music and singing was not very relaxing for dining and the loud volume made casual conversation difficult. Bottom line: highly recommend this deal while it lasts until end of October this year. The Speciale - A at $28.00 plus tax and tip is just as hearty as either B or C; I would return to try either of them. Lunch is by special request for larger groups, and access to parking is plentiful.More

What a perfect time to go and try this place. They have a special this month with half off their menu sets. Both my husband and I chose different menu sets so we could try each other’s food. He got Speciale B and I got...Speciale C. You can check out their website for what’s in each menu. Everything we got was set in a nice presentation and service was good. After our antipasto, there was a bit of a long wait til we got our salad. But other than that, service was on point. The cauliflower cold soup with uni was different yet interesting. It was perfectly flavored and the uni added perfect saltiness to the soup as a whole. There was a trio of musicians, one on the grand piano, one with the guitar and the last was on drums/percussion. They provided a good vibe during the meal. This restaurant occupies a bigger than expected space and I noticed a few private dining rooms separated by thick curtains for larger groups. I recommend this place and would say to try it once. It’s worth a try.More

Overall the experience at Vintage Cave Cafe was pretty good. Servers were friendly and attentive and food was pretty good. My friends and I saw the Italian 50% off special on their email promotion and thought it looked interesting, so off we went to check...it out. First, we were confused that this wasn’t the real Vintage Cave (one of our friends had to clarify that for us) but after thinking about it, we still decided to go. Although I wish they were a little more differentiated! Among all of us we got to see and try all the specials. Every A, B, and C had a good dish. For A, the burrata cheese and tomato salad + veal was excellent. I think the A was the best value. For B, the beef carpaccio and my fish were good. They served the beef carpaccio with a tonnato (tuna/mayo) sauce but it really doesn’t need it - it was better as is. My fish was a little salty on the outside (I think they used a salt crust) but the inside was perfect. I ate it all. For C, the lobster bisque, black truffle pasta, and desserts were good. Actually all the desserts were great! Wish they would serve some of the dishes Ala Carte I would definitely order another truffle pasta! 😁 Ambiance was nice, there was live music. We were next to it so it was a little loud, but it was ok since it was a casual dinner for us. There are some nooks for privacy - dunno how you get those tables, probably good to ask for those if you’re celebrating something more romantic. Bottom line, it was a great experience. If it’s your first time, go with a bunch of people so you can try different sets. But between the three, I would say C was probably the best - only because Id really want the truffle pasta.More
