I try and have at least one Indian meal whenever I am overseas. At Honolulu came to know of this cafe. Must admit that the food was good. Not overly expensive either. Being vegetarian, the options were not many though.

Restaurant closes at 10 pm as advertised everywhere . We arrived @ 9.20 Om , walked into the restaurant and were told to wait outside. As they were not ready fir us . We waited for 39 minutes outside and then went in to check...and this is when we were told by the cashier that they could not serve us !!!! Poor customer service not interested in our business not worried that we had waited fir 39 minutes , nor customer service training in a Tourist town regardless of how good the food is , you don’t look after your customer you don’t deserve a good review , the owners need to be aware of this looser served by their staff !! Highly never will come back it recommend.. POOR POOR POORMore

Went there at 8:30 PM, closing time was 10 PM. The arrogant and rude British-sounding manager refused to seat us, so we ordered take-out (not many Indian restaurants in the neighborhood). Asked us to wait outside while the food was being prepared. In the meanwhile,...there were clearly seats available within the restaurant. The food itself, while edible, was un-authentic and sub-par. Avoid at all costs..More

I’m going to preface this review by saying, first that most of the diners seemed to enjoy their experience better than we did. My husband and I were scoping out options for my side of the family (Indian) for one of our two family dinners...while on island. First, the good : their naans were lovely - perfectly risen even if they put too much butter (scalded fingers on hot grease - ouch!). They give enough food to where you could reasonably share one dish for two people. They are severely understaffed, but the staff seems friendly when they were available (which was basically never). Now, the bad : When you arrive, you put your name on a list and then you wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. There’s limited seating, so if you’re traveling with elderly family members, no promise that they’ll have a place to sit. After the interminable wait, you’re taken to a tiny table with no space between your neighbors. In our case we were next to a loud pair of bro-dudes who were bragging with the waiter about how often one of them came with a different female companion... I’m sure he’s a decent person, but I learned too much about this dude’s sex life and couldn’t actually have a conversation with the person I was with. The resturant is “authentic” insofar as the decoration is nice and it’s got that air of caked in dirt / neglect that you see in Delhi in B-grade resturants. As I mentioned the seating is too close together and you end up hitting your neighbor if you try and get out of your not on the edge of the seating area. The bathroom is baricaded from the kitchen by a temporary wall and requires a key to access. While not outrageously filthy, I’ll just say I’m grateful I didn’t have to sit. All of this, the wait, the filth the confined space would be fine, and even a positive in a sense, if the food wasn’t so... bland. The ingredients were there but - aside from the palak paneer which was okay (but is generally supposed to be bland) - everything lacked any kick. We ordered the chicken pakora - not sure what they used for the batter but it wasn’t chickpea flour and the spice was merely okay and needed heat. They did a mint chutney (which would normally be my go to to fix blandness) that was more like raita and flavorless. The papadi chat had samosa filling instead of boiled potatoes, so there were a lot of flavors competing instead of the clean fresh flavor that the dish should have. Saag paneer was okay. Spinach seemed fresh purée and the paneer was soft. Navratan Korma was watery bland. The chicken tikka kebab was marinated in coconut milk and with no garlic/ginger and no heat so ended more like a malai kebab than tikka. The service was overwhelmed so we were ignored throughout our meal and since the table was so small, we had to do gymnastics to try and eat and then pack our leftovers. Overall, not a super expensive meal - particularly since we over ordered, wanting to get a survey of the food - but we were pretty disappointed since the other reviews were positive.More

The cafe is inviting and looks clean - was very busy when we went . The food was good and we really enjoyed the papri chat . The alooparatha were so so ! The yellow daal was tasty . We had a good experience until...I went to wash my hands - the toilets were dirty - the seat was horribly stained and sink looked like it hadn’t been clean - this changed my view of this restaurant instantly - If attention is not paid to the toilets made me think what sort of attention was paid in the preparation of the food !More

The place is small, the decor was vibrant, the servers were friendly, and the food was very good (just the right amount of heat for me). We commented that if the restaurant were closer to home, we'd get take-out more often. We plan to return....: ) Constructive criticism: Because the place was so small, it was a little difficult to understand why there was a wait for a waiter to approach our table with water and why our food came out at different times (and some didn't come at all). The place also needs a little love with some soap and a scrub brush. It had a somewhat dirty appearance which is unappealing for a restaurant.More

We booked a table for 6. After a wait of nearly 2 hours we finally got the table. We had ordered the food in advance so it came as soon as we sat. Everything we ordered tasted great, from veg biryani to paneer, chhole. This...was an indian restaurant but we were the only indian ppl there.More

This place was very lively and cozy! We only waited 5 minutes to be seated. Portions are great to share so of course we had left overs. We ordered garlic chicken, lamb madras, fish curry and garlic naan. Flavors are great and savory! No alcohol...on the menu but you can BYOB.More
