My wife is Filipino, I am American. My wife asked if they has chicken feet. They did in the Dimsun offering cart. I like Korean Yahamondo but they hasd steamed in the cart. They said they could grill or fry it. It was very good....My wife loved her chicken feet. I also had the Sweet and Sour pork, my wife ordered shrimp with snow peas and garlic spinach. Everything we had was delicious. The prices were very reasonable and we had great service.More

A Hawaiian friend told me about a very special dish which is usually only ordered at special occasions in Chinatown. I asked around and discovered that the Golden Palace makes two kinds of “stuffed duck” - one stuffed with mochi rice and another with barley...and herbs. We decided on the latter as it was not as “heavy”!and would permit us to enjoy other dishes, too. The “stuffed duck” was cooked like a pot roast so it was juicy as much as a duck can be juicy and soft. It was topped with a nice gravy. Highly recommended to try a different take on a duck dish. We had steamed fish, and Chinese broccoli as accompanying dishes. Wonderful and memorable meal. The “stuffed duck” needs to be ordered in advance as it takes time to prepare.More

My spouse and I saved our last day in Honolulu for one of our food favorites: Chinese. We ate at 2 restaurants for lunch and dinner. Golden Palace was the first. The restaurant has received low ratings for atmosphere and service. I disagree for these...reasons: This is an Asian family-run restaurant that is popular with the locals—clue #1. The bulk of the business is operated at the entrance, where the staff work endlessly to fill to-go popular Dim Sum orders—clue #2. The family is short-staffed, and work up a sweat ensuring every order is taken and meal served efficiently. There isn’t a lot of time for chat—clue # 3. All of this adds up to an authentic culinary experience. If you want fancy or modern trappings or to borrow an updated and well cared for bathroom, go elsewhere. The key is the food. And, how was it? FABULOUS at ridiculously affordable price. You can easily share a 4 Dim Sum box meal (4 brunch-style appetizers with 2 to 4 servings in each box) for under $12 ($6 per person). We chose two family-style entrees: cashew chicken and sizzling chicken with ginger and onion. Both dishes were made from fresh ingredients. The ginger was shaved from ginger root — it was NOT from dehydrated power. The stir fry veggies in both dishes were crisp and delicious. The sauces were distinctly different and yummy. We could have easily shared one entree. The cost for too much food for two: $25. Great value and equally great taste are hard to find in Honolulu and/or Waikiki.More

A return visit to enjoy dine in again. Only a few customers enjoyed dine in as most people are still doing take out. The hot dim sum was delicious. We had shrimp, fish, and chicken feet. The chicken feet were done perfectly with a great...sauce. This has to be the best place for chicken feet! Another great selection is the combination fried rice which is a combination of shrimp and pork. Parking is abundant in the back of the restaurant. The service is very friendly and professional. A must stop for a great inexpensive meal!More

Easy to find location with an hourly parking lot in the back. The interior has seen better days and the common building rest rooms are in need of an upgrade. The staff has their good and bad days but, in general, they are very helpful...and professional. The owner and his son always greet people in a friendly manner to add to the Hawaiian aloha. The diem sum is first rate with the chicken feet the absolute best - surpassing many places in Asia. The spare ribs are well flavored and delicious. The selection of shrimp or spinach is also excellent. All in all it is a place you will return to many times.More

The food at Golden Palace is very tasty and can't beat the price. Dim Sum prices are set regardless of the type, unlike other dim sum houses.

For inexpensive and decent dim sum and other Cantonese Chinese food favorites, this place is a great stop when in Chinatown of downtown Honolulu, When you walk in, you are immediately surrounded with the usual kitschy Chinese restaurant décor flare. It is great. It has...all the classic Chinese looks with the noise and hustle & bustle that you would expect out of such a place. They have a picture menu for their dim sum so it makes it quick and easy to order by just pointing to the menu verses waiting for the cart to come around. There is also a very extensive menu to order extra dishes from if dim sum is not enough for you. Don't expect much as far as service. It might come across as rude to those who are not used to this time of environment, but this is what I expect and enjoy. It adds to the experience for me and is classic for this type of Chinese restaurant. The big thing for me was the value. The prices are very reasonable and you get quality food. It isn't the best I've had, but I would eat there again for sure.More

we stopped here for lunch and no one could sppeak english. So unless you are familiar with htese types of establishments you are on your own. Well we were on our own and got Dim Sum which is all appetizers you pick out. Well not...knowing what we were picking and no clarifications we ended up with some items we did not like (like chicken feet). The food was greasy. Not a great experienceMore

What a disappointment. The hot and sour soup was OK, but the pot stickers and spring rolls were greasy. Plus the general ambience is not good, sort of seedy. I asked how to find the bathrooms, and I was given a large empty food can...with a key attached. I walked out the side door down the hall to enter a nasty bathroom with an unpleasant aroma. It looked like it had not been cleaned in a month. we love Chinese food, but we cannot recommend this restaurant.More

This was our first time eating at a real Chinese restaurant. We were seated quickly and our server brought us drinks and hot tea. Our hostess brought a cart over with many different types of food. We picked three different appetizers (shrimp, ribs, chicken) all...were good. We also ordered our meal and were served with a very large portion. We couldn't eat all of the food. Our meal was good and our service was good. Soda drinks are sold by the can.More

We usually stop by for their fresh gin dui (Chinese deep fried sesame mochi ball with red bean filling). It was lunch time and this time we made it in time for dim sum. We ordered shumai, pork bun, soup dumpling, pan fried white rectangular...noodle, rice cake, and the sesame balls. They were all very delicious and filling. We were stuffed. We'll be back again.More

Had lunch here with my wife after walking around Chinatown. Typical Chinese restaurant décor which has seen better days. Place was clean and had a few occupied tables. They did a pretty good take out business as there were more people ordering take out than...eating in. One waitress on duty in the restaurant while two were servicing take out. That being the case, patrons had to help themselves by picking out the dim sum they wanted from the food cart and serving themselves. Large selection of decent dim sum at reasonable prices, so I can't complain. Only gripe is the lack of a bathroom in the restaurant. The rest room is a public one located in the hall way of the building the restaurant is in.More

I was hesitant to visit for lunch because ratings showed 3 stars but 1) my good friend highly recommended it and 2) I was craving some food dim sum so I went for it. You just walk into the restaurant and find a seat. Then...you can order from their extensive menu or order dim sum. They have a good selection of dim sum but it isn’t anything like dim sum in Houston or Los Angeles. The dim sum was good and priced well - $2.96 per plate. I ordered the beef fried rice for my son and it was $6. They were all good servings sizes. The hot tea was great even though it was hot outside. The food was good and I would definitely go back! There is no parking nearby so I parked at the Chinatown Municipal parking garage which was $0.75 for the first 30 minutes and $1.25 (?) for every 30 minutes after that. The female owner was nice and spoke English well. The servers didn’t speak English that well, if at all. I’d recommend this place again. Also, the restrooms nearby (they don’t have a restroom in the restaurant) are disgusting.More
