It's a Tuesday night. I am hungry and somewhat thirsty. I am greeted by the waitpersons when I step into the restaurant. What a breath of fresh air! The bar is alive and I don't want to sit alone to dine. It's kind of nice not to have to wait for a table or service. All I can say is... More

We've found this spot just walking by and decided to try it the other day. Food was fine, although not the best mexican I ever had, but considering you're on Hawaii it was very good. But the margarita was one of the best - and that counts, right? :)

We spent our childhoods in Santa Fe. In the fifties it was a Mexican village with a few artists called Los Cincos Pintores. The five painters. Our parents were a part of that colony of artists. They partied in the mountains above the town, The Sangre de Christos (the blood of Christ). There is a town in the foothills called... More

First, the pics shown by the restaurant name are not of this restaurant. The restaurant is warm & friendly cantina style & the bar was full of locals watching the UH football game when I arrived. Plenty of customers, so I was a little concerned that I could get food quickly as I was on a schedule & ordered the... More

Hawaii is a terrible spot for Mexican food. Jose's is like most of it--not very good Tex/Mex--chile con carne flavored covered in cheese, not very Mexican at all. There's one good true Mexican restaurant, Mexico. There's another that's good Southwestern Mexican, Serg's in Manoa.

First off I'll admit that Mexican food is not one of my favorites. We dined at Jose's recently after much prodding by my wife. I decided to give it a try and promised to be open minded. The restaurant has very nice ambience and the wait staff are very friendly and efficient. The dishes we ordered were very typical and... More
