All four of us ordered something different. All four of us could not brag enough about their meal. I had the salmon. It had to be one of the best salmon that I have ever had.

Had an opportunity to visit Hoku’s at Kahala and aside from the amazing food and drinks, the staff is truly what makes them stand above the other restaurants I visited. Two of the managers stood out Wan Bae and Elton were both outstanding! Staff as...expected followed suit and truly shined during my experiences.More
Aloha! We are pleased to have hosted you! Mahalo for sharing your visit.
A calm but somewhat dated setting. Billed as a culinary experience this is really just expensive ingredients served in small portions. Desserts are the favoured course. The menu is small and doesn’t really account for many portions. Most of the items you are interested in...come with a surcharge. We really did not enjoy the meal- it was served at speed, with little flair and we experienced discomfort all evening. Not a fanMore
Aloha, Deb. Our apologies for delivering much less than a exemplary dining experience to you! Disappointed to hear, but your candid feedback is appreciated! Mahalo.
Lovely gem, serving great dishes with an amazing service. Lots of great seafood dishes, recommend the tuna tartar, or the lobster bisque, great drinks. Very quiet and romantic
Aloha! Delighted you enjoyed! We appreciate the opportunity to serve you. Mahalo.
Not had dinner yet, but wow to $75 corkage fee. I understand it’s tough times for restaurants but for people who don’t drink much, we will all drink water tonight which does not give the restaurant any margin. I hope you reconsider the amount of...corkage fee to a more reasonable amount.More
Mahalo for joining us, Gordon! We appreciate your patronage. Apologies that you find the corkage fee excessive. It is less about the fee and more about politely directing guests to take advantage of what our chef and sommelier have designed. Our team crafts a wine...More
It was difficult to enjoy the lovely setting of Hoku's dining room when the air conditioning was so unnecessarily cold. Especially since the Fall Oahu weather outside was mild and lovely. We shivered throughout our meal. We ordered from the 4 course prix fixe menus,...one meat, one pescatarian, and one vegetarian. In all of those courses, only two were stand-outs - a risotto on the vegetarian menu and the foie gras (with an up charge) on the meat selections. Otherwise, all the other courses, however artistically plated with interesting uses of edible flowers and creative color points, were disappointingly bland. I can not recommend Hoku's; I believe it is entirely possible to deliver beautiful and flavorful food at these prices. Thankfully, they still offer the profiteroles from the former Kahala Hilton fine dining menu of yesteryear.More
Aloha! Our sincere apologies you did not have a better experience. We are truly disappointed for you. Mahalo for joining us and your feedback is appreciated and will be reviewed by our team.
The headline sums it up for me. I have visited Honolulu over 30 times when I came here for work. I have always made a point to dine at this establishment. This was our anniversary brunch and I have requested a front window seating. Boy...where we greeted like royalty. From the moment we walked in, to the very last minute we were showered with proper amount of attention. Conversations with staff felt appropriate and easy. I was able to reminisce with some of them about old dishes no longer served there, like the (large) Seafood Tower they used to have years ago. Some staff here have been working for many years and their attentiveness and excellent service proves their dedication. Hoku’s has not changed its quality of service, food, creativity, and ambiance over the years. We went for Sunday Brunch. It was not a typical buffet as before due to COVID changes, but everyone was served the same thing, so you get to taste everything. The brunch set menu is extensive and is of utmost quality, presentation, and taste. You get a large plate of appetizers which included half lobster tail, shrimp cocktail, sushi, sashimi, their version of musubi, which was stuffed with ahi poke and fried, and crepes. This is followed by the main course, which included prime rib, crab claws, salmon eggs benedict, tempura, and rice. Desert place had three kinds of desert. For drink we ordered a bottle of prosecco which was served with out three choices of fresh fruit on the side. Highly recommend getting this and making your own mimosas with varying flavors. Hoku’s staff and Kahala Resort, thank you for making this another super memorable visit. It will stay with us for many years! This was in the top 3 highlights of our trip to Oahu and Maui. A couple of notes on the price for the readers. Considering the amount of high quality, high price food items, amount of love and creativity put into presentation and service, in a five-star restaurant the price of this brunch is very justifiable.More
Aloha! Delighted that you have had such great experiences. Pleased to have served you and honored by your gracious comments. We appreciate your loyalty and taking time to share your visits. Mahalo!
I like so many other guests who come to the Kahala Hotel loved the previous Hoku menu. When I walked in the restaurant I had no idea that the chef had changed to a price fix tasting menu. I said I would give it a...try and I did. You can see by reading my previous reviews I’ve been around the block but I must say these were some of the tastiest bites I’ve ever eaten in my life! Granted pricing is expensive and I could see by the wine list that the clientele must love champagne ..there are more than several on the wine list. . If you don’t mind spending a couple of bucks maybe on a special occasion this place is flat out Phenomenal!! Let me also mention the incredible service and attention to every detail and super friendly …including my wonderful hostess friend who’s family hails from the great island of Molokai. This was a very spontaneous event for me but I will never forget it…More
Aloha! We are delighted you joined us and love the changes Chef Jonathan has brought to Hoku's. We hope to see you again, soon! Mahalo.
The have gone to a prix fixe menu that was $121 per person and wasn't very expansive. Service was great but it was two more courses than I wanted. New chef is the issue I think.More
Aloha, Jeff. Appreciate you joining us and sharing your feedback. Executive Chef Jonathan Mizukami introduced a prix fixe menu to Hoku's two years ago and has continued to update seasonally. There are limited choices within each course. It has been well received by most guests,...More
This past Sunday my partner and I had a delicious brunch at Hoku's. Instead of their buffet, they are serving their "Teishoku" style feast. Starting with an assortment of sushi, lobster, ahi poke musubi, and rolled pancakes. This alone was enough food. The main included...crab legs, butter fish, salmon benedict, and rib roast. Everything was delicious. The service was outstanding. I don’t remember having to ask for anything. We had a wonderful time soaking in the ocean view as we took our time enjoying each bite. I highly recommend the Sunday brunch.More
Mahalo for joining us and sharing your visit! Highly appreciated.
We tried Hoku's new TeiHoku brunch menu on Sunday and loved it. Not only was the selection and quality of the food incredible, the service, view, and ambiance were also impeccable. We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our breakfast! The TeiHoku menu...features an excellent "appetizer" box with sushi, sashimi, lobster, ahi musubi, and thin pancakes. The main box featured smoked salmon benedict, tempura, bacon, snow crab legs, rib roast, and misoyaki butterfish. There were also 3 delicious desserts to try. Would definitely come back again! I can honestly say everything was delicious. Can't pick a favorite!More
Mahalo for joining us and sharing your experience!
Very interesting taste of the food, kind of mixed style, it may linked to the chef’s experience. But you will love the food. Very good view of the sea our of the window. Friendly staff is also a plus!
Mahalo for joining us at Hoku's!
We went according to the ratings and hype. We've lived in Europe for a long time and traveled around the world, hence, we couldn't help not to compare with some of the most amazing places we dined. Yes, a loooot cheaper price, and a looooot...better. The lobster I chose to have at $30 extra was totally a joke! I do not recommend. Our bill was over $400 for two plus the tip. It was not worth it.More
Aloha, Connie. We are sincerely disappointed that your visit did not measure up to expectations. We appreciate having the opportunity to serve you. Mahalo.
We had the good fortune to revisit Hoku's for dinner last night and can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was. The four course dinner offered great selections for each of the courses and every dish was prepared and presented with great attention to...every detail. Foie gras, tomato tart, sweetbreads, ravioli, salmon, & short rib were flawless. And the banana cream pie which has been transformed into a creamy, nutty, layer cake was out of this world. The service was so personal and professional. When we didn't enjoy the tasting of the first bottle of wine ordered, they graciously agreed to replace it with something more to our liking. We will look forward to returning to Hoku's whenever we are back in Honolulu.More
Aloha! Mahalo for the compliments - to your experience and to our team! We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Oahu.
First of all this a once in a lifetime experience. Second the Kaluela Tomato Tart is great . Third the short ribs are great . Lastly, the people who work here are very nice.
Aloha! Delighted you enjoyed! Mahalo for joining us!
