This was a must try from reviews so headed out on our cycle trip. Family run, friendly place, especially if they think you're interested. We had combination plate and ate the lot! Delicious. Were told all about what we were eating and how to eat it. Tried the poi/taro which is odd but ok when you dip other food in... More

We headed down this way after hiking at Manoa Falls. There is a great parking deck in the nearby Safeway plaza that is free and halfway between Leonard's Bakery and Ono's Hawaiian Food. We had to wait just a little because the place is so small (40 seats, maybe), but so worth it!! We order the combination meal with pork... More

I don't have a lot of experience with down home Hawaiian comfort food but from watching the locals next to us enjoying their meals, Ono has got to be the real deal We had delicious long rice chicken soup with glass noodles, kalua pork (pulled pork), lomi lomi salmon (like pico de gallo with salmon mixed in), pipikaula (a delicious... Fast service, great Hawaiian cuisine. Get the family style dinner. Everything was very good. 4 year old are the pork, rice and coconut pudding.

I have two favorite places for Hawaiian food and this is one of them. Very casual home cooking and I'm always comfortable there and leaving stuffed and happy. The other restaurants on the block keep changing owners and styles. Ono's is the staple.

I came here wanting kalua pork. My husband and I showed up near closing time and they told us that they were almost sold out of all of their food. I think one of the owners was helping us out with selecting food and luckily they still had kalua pork, but he also recommended the salted meat with watercress. If... More

If you like the luau food but don't want to go through the motions of going to a luau, this is the best Hawaiian food out there. We also ate at Rainbows (just across the street) but this is way better food. Go with one of the set lunch menu, but if you must order a la carte, lau lau... More

Nice experience. However if you are not a fan of traditional Hawaiian you may want to go elsewhere. The dishes reminded me alot of Filipino food which can be heavy on meat especially pork and rice. I enjoyed it however our friends who are health buffs did not.

I heard from other people and also some youtube videos that Poi is horrible, however, I actually liked it. It has no flavor, so you just need to treat it as rice - mix it with a little something else, such as the laulau or poke, then it works great. Also, the food was huge, we can only finish 1/3...
