I was torn between this place and boiling crab and another place...I picked this place cause they had cioppino...I love cioppino and have to try it everywhere..I also ordered a pound of shrimp with the karai spice. Now I am used to the bag shrimp...and l the different flavors mixed together which I prefer...They serve their shrimp in a bowl spice at bottom...Karai spice is ok but not like the mixed spices you get at the other boil in a bag where you are licking your fingers or just trying to lap up the sauce...I probably would have been better off with a butter garlic...The cioppino was a good price and lots of seafood especially crab..what I loved about this place is they give you scissors to cut the crab as well as the traditional nut crackers. The cioppino is more soup based than like a tomato paste thick base...more watery. It was a good price. I would go back and try something else on the menu but nice place and the server kept filling up my iced teaMore

This was a very nice restaurant away from the big hotels of Waikiki. The food was delicious and the employees were very friendly. The service was great and we weren’t rushed to leave after our meal. Nothing special about the bathrooms. 2 stalls and 2...urinalsMore

First of all, I emailed the restaurant directly first before writing this review, and after a week with no reply here is how our experience went. We rocked up and we’re greeted by a very rude rushed door person who eventually said you’ll be waiting...10 Minutes for your seat although we had a reservation, we asked to just have a drink at the bar and were told there was no bar person to accommodate this. When we were seated I asked for what I was looking so forward to, “the kraken” in which the server said they are not serving because the chef hadn’t decided how he wanted to serve it yet!????? This sounds ridiculous as it’s on the menu still to this day. We opted for the recommendation from the server of a mixed platter and snow crab. All of which was absolutely terrible! It’s not fresh, 100% can gaurentee you that. I’ve had way better at cheaper places all over the world, the smell of the seafood wasn’t off, but was far from actually fresh and tasted bland. Muscles especially were inedible. At the time I booked in to karai crab it was rated #4 in Honolulu which I just can’t understand how, but upon looking recently is slipping. Do not go here. It’s absolutely terrible Photos attached of the “presentation”More

We only had starters to share but they were all delicious! The waitress recommended the garlic noodles and they were scrumptious! The chicken wings were the best I’ve ever had and the shrimp and grits were better than we expected. We’re from the South and...we were skeptical about shrimp and grits in Hawaii but they did a great job and it had an interesting smoky flavor. The place is too brightly lit but otherwise this is a great place. If we had been hungrier we would have ordered the crabs because that’s what everyone else was eating.More

The service was good and the crab was good, but my cocktail was a total miss and a lot of the food tasted over-salted.

Our first visit but won’t be our last! King crab legs were HUGE! Just not very filling! We needed sweet potato fries to supplement! Friendly server. Owner came over to check on us. Great atmosphere! A little confusion since they have recently moved but stay...with it. It’s worth it!!More

This was our first time at Karai Crab. The service including menu suggestions were great. We each had different meals including catfish, Ciopinno, pan fry and snow crab with Karai combo and everyone commented on how excellent each was. The sauces are also great, I...do enjoy spice and selected the Karai with cayenne option and this had a good bite, however the Hawaiian tropical with Cayenne was my favourite. We enjoyed so much we already booked another dinner reservation, great seafood options.More
