I'm not a vegetarian (yet), but I have been exploring the options. I had a vegetarian version of the loco moco, and while it was good, it could have had some more flavour. The service was lovely, though.

The food was amazing. Got vegan buffalo chicken & my husband got the Reuben. The neighborhood isn't the best but there is $3 just around the corner so not a long walk! So so good!

Honestly, getting there and walking down the streets makes you feel like you might be robbed, maybe pick up hepatitis, or sold drugs somewhere along the way (or a combination of all three), but don't let that turn you off! If you're looking for good, vegan diner food, this needs to be on your radar! I got the vegan buffalo sandwich with the seasoned fries and it was amazing!

Great find in an older Honolulu neighbourhood away from the main tourist areas. We stopped in for lunch as we were walking along the street. Many booths and a warm welcome on arrival. Menu is pretty decent with sweet and savoury options for both breakfast and lunch. Plus, a great selection of delicious milkshakes. Try the nutella milkshake. We both liked our dishes. Service was a little spotty in terms of finally coming to take our order and then trying to find a server to pack up our food and give us the bill. We would recommend this place.

Excellent food with a decent amount of options for vegetarians/vegans. The service was a little slow but worth it as the food was great. Would recommend the vegan hot wings!

My husband and I are here for lunch and we're hair too see so many vegan options on the menu. We ordered the vegan Buffalo wings with homemade vegan ranch, a vegan teriyaki burger and the vegan ribs. The wings were our favorite and the ribs were our least favorite (still fine)! Really helped satisfy my craving for some wings! Vegan welcome!

My son and I enjoyed a hearty vegan meal at the Downbeat Diner on a recent visit to Honolulu. I had the vegan citrus spareribs and my son had the vegan teriyaki burger. The food was tasty and filling and hit the spot after a big hike. The atmosphere was funky and our server was friendly and attentive too.

Visited today for lunch on the way back from the excellent Bishop Museum. Loved everything about this fantastic eatery. Excellent vegan options in a quirky but immensely friendly setting. The staff were super nice, the music was 80’s retro and the food was brilliant. Thank you Downbeat Diner, you guys rock!!

The vegetarian brunch plates are pretty good, actually; and pretty reasonably priced. Service however, is awful. I came close to walking out the door a couple of times b/c I couldn't get the check; and frankly, I don't think anyone would have noticed or cared if I had.

Located in downtown Honolulu, honestly the area looked run down and the complete opposite of the plush 5* hotels along Waikiki beach. Do not dress up for this dinner, it's casual and don't take anything to valuable or leave in the car. Street Parking is free from 6pm onwards, we found a space around the corner from the diner. The menu is perfect for vegans or those with specific dietary requirements. Service is great! There are several mock meat options in burgers, wraps or as wings. The milkshakes are great - lots of flavours to choose, from Oreo to Nutella. All in all a great place for those craving a good burger, shake and fries!

We ate here on a Saturday afternoon. They had two menus. One was a brunch menu and the other was a lunch menu. They had a great selection of food including vegetarian options. The atmosphere is fun and hip. The service was super friendly. We had the Mac n cheese, chicken pesto sandwich, vegetarian loco moco and a grass fed burger. Everything was tasty and fresh. There is ample public parking. The only downside is there are a lot of homeless in the area so be aware of your surroundings. Other than that, great experience!

Came here with friends and family. I am not a vegetarian or vegan but members of my family are so this place was perfect. They make both a vegan/vegetarian and meat version. I had the meat loco moco and it was very good. For pupus we ordered the jalapeño poppers and vegan wings and was I pleasantly surprised. I really liked the vegan wings. I couldn't tell it wasn't chicken. This restaurant is in Chinatown on the corner of Hotel and Smith St. If you take The Bus #2 from Waikiki, the bus will stop right in front of the restaurant.
