After reading all the positive reviews I was looking forward to trying this place. It's definitely cute and a hole in the wall. Food was ok but way way over priced. Spent $45 USD for two donburi and 2 small rolls (8 pieces of California roll and 8 pieces of ahi roll). The same meal in Vancouver would have been... More

My husband and I were staying in Waikiki and were looking for a less expensive restaurant with a local feel that we could walk to. We read good reviews, so decided to try it for dinner. It was small and very quaint and obviously family owned. There were only a handful of tables, but there was also sidewalk table seating.... More

Food was okay but the service was terrible. It was my last day in Hawaii and this restaurant totally ruined the end of my happy vacation. If you are not good at English or not familiar with American culture just never go there.

Hiked Diamond Head then stopped for lunch while walking back to hotel. Shared a salad and the sushi was amazing. Involuntarily said yum midway through the meal! Very small dining area. Decor was very Hawaiian eclectic. Not a place for a romantic meal, but definitely a place for personalized service and delicious eats!! (Was gluten free friendly, too.)

We were out for a walk around Waikiki and as we are in seafood heaven, wanted sushi. We heard by word of mouth about Hawaiian Cafe and decided to give it a try. It is smaller quaint sushi cafe with great character. The service was fast, friendly and our server was great with my girls (12 & 7) on how... More

If you are in the area for vacation, i wouldnt waste a meal here. Things to note: 1/ nice owners but that doesnt excuse the slow service 2/ as noted, a hole in the wall...but that is pretty much it 3/ food was a miss, for all the reviews on "fresh" fish...isnt this hawaii...dont most ppl have access to fresh... We stumbled upon this tiny place, which has a beautiful, little courtyard that was quiet. Inside was small with a lot of older decor from around the island. Family owned and operated. Food was fresh and delicious. Don't let the old-look & tiny space fool you!

My husband and I ate dinner here last night. The seaweed salad was delicious. The nigiri was fresh and wonderful. And we had the best toasted rice tea. A sweet woman was our waitress and she was attentive without being intrusive and so nice. We are so glad we came here. They do not service alcohol but that was fine.... More

I had the spicy Ahi poke bowl ($14) and it was awesome! Generous amount of Ahi tuna and just the right amount of spice (they can make it spicier if you want too). This is a "no frills" place with only a few tables and overall is pretty small - I would guess the majority of their business is takeout.... More
